[Oh!SSEN LETTER] Why iKON Became The ‘President Among Elementary School Students’
[OSEN=선미경 기자] The popularity of iKON’s ‘LOVE SCENARIO’ is still ongoing. The song is highly popular among elementary students, leading to a steady performance in music charts.
iKON is known as the ‘president among elementary school students’ these days. iKON’s popularity among elementary children is high, along with the song ‘LOVE SCENARIO’ released back in January. Since ‘LOVE SCENARIO’ is consisted of catchy melodies and lyrics that are easy to sing along, it’s not hard to spot elementary children singing along with iKON.
On June 23, YANG HYUN SUK uploaded a video on his social media along with the caption “#iKON #LOVE_SCENARIO #LOVE_SONG_FOR_CHILDREN #YG WHAT’S GOING ON?”. The video showed elementary children singing iKON’s ‘LOVE SCENARIO’.
The children were singing the song in schools, academies, classrooms, buses, assembly halls, field trips, and even in Taekwondo gyms, which impressed the viewers. The fact that the children can joyfully sing-along the song without peeking at the lyrics show iKON’s popularity among them. In fact, the popularity of ‘LOVE SCENARIO’ among elementary students is still high, although 6 months have passed since the song’s initial release.
The popularity trend of ‘LOVE SCENARIO’ among elementary students resembles that of ‘Let it go’ from the movie ‘Frozen’. The only difference is that while ‘Let it go’ was popular among female students, ‘LOVE SCENARIO’ is currently popular among all students, regardless of gender. That is the reason why iKON is currently known as the ‘president among elementary school students’.
‘LOVE SCENARIO’ dominated music charts as soon as the song was released. Despite the ‘comeback rush’ in the K-Pop scene that followed, ‘LOVE SCENARIO’ maintained their top spot for over 40 days, becoming the mega-hit of 2018. iKON proved their steady popularity once again through the continuous support by elementary children.
As iKON captures the hearts of all age groups including elementary school children, people are highly anticipating their comeback this summer.
