[OFFICIAL] iKON Will Make Comeback on August 2nd… Will Continue ‘LOVE SCENARIO’ With Another Mega-Hit
[엑스포츠뉴스=전원 기자] Boy group iKON noticed their upcoming comeback on August 2, and the start of the 2nd half which they plan to continue the popularity of ‘LOVE SCENARIO’ with another mega-hit.
On July 23 at 2 PM, YG Entertainment revealed a poster notifying iKON’s comeback on August 2nd.
While the first teaser poster displayed iKON’s fresh charms while holding flowers, the 2nd poster displayed the opposite.
iKON got rid of their kind ‘boyfriend’ image, and displayed masculine, sexy, and mature looks. People are wondering what kind of musical changes iKON went through, as they have successfully changed styles and concepts.
The upcoming mini album ‘NEW KIDS:CONTINUE’ is the final series from the trilogy that began with ‘NEW KIDS:BEGIN’ on May 2017 and continued through ‘RETURN’, released on January 2018. The album contains the meaning of continuing passion and hard work.
After making comeback on January with their 2nd album, iKON re-wrote boy group history in the past 10 years in K-Pop. The group topped major real-time music charts for 43 days with their mega hit ‘LOVE SCENARIO’ and swept weekly charts for 6 consecutive weeks. It is not an exaggeration to say that the group completely dominated the K-Pop scene for the first quarter of 2018.
Furthermore, they collected the most trophies ever in Korean music broadcasts. By winning a total of 11 crowns, iKON successfully captured the hearts of fans and the public.
Also, the group proved their strong presence in global music charts by topping iTunes Album Charts in 17 different countries, maintaining its no. 1 spot in China QQ Music’s KPOP Weekly Chart for 4 consecutive weeks, and topping Japan iTunes Album Comprehensive Chart.
The MV was also a huge success. iKON reached 100 million views for the first time, with the MV for ‘LOVE SCENARIO’. The video on YouTube is currently at 132.86 million views, proving iKON’s long-run popularity.
