Interest on YG’s ‘X ACADEMY’ Explodes Overseas… Flood of Inquiries Paralyzes Business
[OSEN=김은애 기자] Inquiries from foreign applicants for YG’s ‘X ACADEMY’ are rushing even before the institution’s opening, proving the global spotlight on ‘X ACADEMY’.
X ACADEMY is a dance and vocal education venue that will open on the 13th. It will provide YG’s know-hows, experience, and the best training system accumulated for the past 22 years. Not only those who pursue to become artists but also the public, regardless of age or gender can apply, differentiating the venue with other existing academies.
The reactions from overseas are unprecedented. 60% of the applicants of X ACADEMY are foreigners. The flood of inquiry phone calls paralyzed the tasks of X ACADEMY, which are stacked up due to the upcoming opening date. In addition, there are over 100 e-mail inquiries per day. People of all continents and gender, countries including the US, Japan, China, Indonesia, and the Philippines are sending various inquires.
The explosive reaction occurred because YG does not simply run the academy or build a signboard. The professional teachers are consisted of dance teams and vocal trainers who work together with artists such as BIGBANG, WINNER, iKON, and BLACKPINK. It will be an opportunity to receive lively education in the same conditions as famous artists do.
The first class on the 13th will be a special lecture by KINJAZ, a world-famous dance crew that represents the US. They also worked on iKON and WINNER’s choreographies. X ACADEMY will continuously provide special lectures by global choreographers who have previously worked with artists from YG.
X ACADEMY is a dance and vocal education venue set up near Hongdae, Seoul by YGX, the subsidiary company of YG Entertainment. Outstanding students will receive opportunities to make debut as artists. They will be given exclusive audition opportunities to become trainees of YG Entertainment, The Black Label, and YGX, or members of YG’s dance teams including HITECH and CRAZY.
