[동아닷컴=홍세영 기자] YG “All Members of BLACKPINK to Release Solo Tracks… JENNIE Will Run First”

Starting with JENNIE, all 4 members of BLACKPINK will release solo tracks.

On October 18, YG Entertainment announced, “All 4 members of BLACKPINK are planning to release solo tracks. JENNIE will be the first runner of BLACKPINK’s new project”.

Producer YANG HYUN SUK noticed BLACKPINK’s future activities by writing, “JENNIE’s solo track will be released first, while ROSÉ will continue. We planned this to present BLACKPINK’s outstanding individual talent and skills in addition to their strong teamwork as a group” in his social media account.

YG Entertainment previously announced JENNIE’s first-ever solo act during the end of this year. People are paying attention on JENNIE’s aspects as a solo artist since she has been presenting charismatic performances with her rap and vocal skills as a member of BLACKPINK.

BLACKPINK released their first mini album ‘SQUARE UP’ on June 15. While the title song ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ swept music charts in and out of Korea as soon as the song was released, it also topped Melon’s Daily Chart for 30 consecutive days. Melon is Korea’s largest music streaming platform.

The record is the best record among all artists, after the music chart reformation that happened last year on February.

‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ renewed the best girl group record in the ‘Top 10 Most Watched MVs in 24 Hours’ announced by US Billboard, while the video also became the fastest MV to surpass 500 million views in K-Pop group history.

Also, the MV for ‘AS IF IT’S YOUR LAST’ became he fastest girl group video to surpass 400 million views, allowing the group to become the first K-Pop girl group to hold two MVs with over 400 million views.

Furthermore, the song ‘KISS AND MAKE UP’ created under the  collaboration between BLACKPINK and world-famous Pop star Dua Lipa will be released on the 13th (US local time). The song serves more than merely labeling BLACKPINK as a featuring artist, since the collaboration happened due to Dua Lipa’s request.

While receiving spotlight not only in Korea but also in overseas markets, BLACKPINK will hold their first-ever concert titled ‘BLACKPINK 2018 TOUR [IN YOUR AREA] SEOUL XBC CARD’on November 10 at 6 PM and on the 11th at 5 PM in Seoul KSPO DOME (Olympic Gymnastics Arena).
