Talent+Visuals+Young Age… 29 Trainees in ‘YG TREASURE BOX’ Really Had It All [YESTERDAY V]
[OSEN=박소영 기자] ‘YG TREASURE BOX’ really prepared it all, since they didn’t know what we’ll like.
On November 16 at 10 PM, ‘YG TREASURE BOX Ep.1’ premiered through the Naver Special V app.
It is a survival competition program to select a new boy group in 4 years by YG that will follow BIGBANG, WINNER, and iKON, scheduled to meet the fans through a total of 10 episodes.
YG Entertainment introduced the 29 trainees to the public on the 5th for 4 days. Group A was composed of members who were already exposed on TV, Group B was composed of members with great visuals, group C was composed of the youngest trainees, while group J was composed of trainees from YG Japan, presenting a large pool of trainees for the fans.
The participant with the longest training period was BANG YE DAM with 6 years of training. He entered the agency when he was 12 and established himself as a singer-songwriter for the past 6 years. He was a passionate trainee who worked hard on both training and studying, acknowledged by not only other trainees but also related officials of YG. He was determined to “make debut” while maintaining his top position in school.
While preparing for ‘YG TREASURE BOX’, representative producer promised to take visuals into account while selecting members. The visuals by YOON JAEHYUK who got street casted by SM, JYP, Cube, Woollim, Pledis, and Yuehua and JANG YUN SEO who resembles Shinee’s Minho stood out.
Group C was composed of trainees with ages of 14~15. The trainees with mischievous visuals including KIM JONG SEOB, the winner of SBS ‘K-Pop Star Season 6’, were revealed. They were talented trainees who gets scolded by the staff while playing during practice, but changed 180 degrees when the music came out, proving their talent and capabilities.
After gathering the members for a monthly evaluation, producer YANG HYUN SUK announced, “We are thinking of 5 members for a boy group that will follow BIGBANG, WINNER, and iKON. We will announce the exact number during the program. If you compete fiercely for the next few months with your life on the line, you will be able to earn many things in your life”.
Along with the 22 trainees, 7 members from YG Japan will be added on, making a total of 29 trainees compete for debut. The trainees will be evaluated every moth with Friday group dances and individual performances. The producer team will make feedback on what was done good and what needs improvements, while the trainees will earn the opportunity to reform teams or be released through the evaluations next month.
The reason why ‘YG TREASURE BOX’ is a special survival program is because YG, the agency that produced top-class boy groups from Jinusean and 1TYM to BIGBANG, WINNER, and iKON, will reveal the agency’s cast meeting, audition process, systematic training system, monthly evaluations, and production progress through the show.
