BLACKPINK’s First-Ever Concert in Manila, Philippines… Freezes Airport

[일간 스포츠=황지영 기자] BLACKPINK continued to present unusual scenes in Manila, Philippines, the fourth city of their first-ever world tour, while receiving heated responses from the local fans.
On February 2, BLACKPINK held the ‘BLACKPINK 2019 WORLD TOUR with KIA [IN YOUR AREA] IN MANILA’ in Mall of Asia Arena, Manila. When BLACKPINK arrived in Manila, the airport was filled with fans who gathered to greet BLACKPINK, and the traffic was paralyzed to the point it could not be controlled by vehicle. BLACKPINK had to leave the airport through the exit near the landing strip instead of their planned routine, proving their heated global popularity.
BLACKPINK started their first-ever concert in Manila glamorously, utilizing various special effects including laser, gunpowder, and fog. They decorated their first stage with their hit song ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ which recently surpassed 600 million views on YouTube, ‘FOREVER YOUNG’, ‘STAY’, and ‘WHISTLE’. While revealing their thoughts on the group’s first-ever concert in Manila, the members revealed concern on the fans’ safety. ROSÉ stated, “We’re very excited to perform in Manila for the first time but safety is our first priority, so please don’t push anyone and I hope no one gets hurt during the concert”.
JISOO, LISA, ROSÉ, and JENNIE’s individual performances made the audience cheer through the members’ unique characters and charming performances. The fans provided lighting in various colors using their phones while cheering for the members. Not only the fans at the standing area, but also the fans who filled the seating areas up to the 5th floor waved ‘Bbyong bongs’, BLACKPINK’s official lighting sticks, while touching the members’ hearts with passionate support and singing-along in Korean. Furthermore, the fans made BLACKPINK smile with a banner that read, “WE’LL STAY FOREVER”.
The fans even presented cakes for each member in the waiting room, revealing their extraordinary affections towards the group. With their last concert ahead, BLACKPINK revealed their thoughts by stating, “It was our first concert in Manila, and we want to come here again! We love you, BLINK! Let’s stay together for long” and commemorated their concert in Manila by taking a group photo with the fans.
Starting with their concert in Bangkok held last month on the 11th, BLACKPINK is visiting their global fans through their first-ever world tour. After holding concerts in Jakarta, Hong Kong, and Manila, the group will perform in Singapore on the 15th. The group will then visit North America, Europe, and Australia after performing in Kuala Lumpur and Taipei.
