BLACKPINK Sweeps ‘2019 Teen Choice Awards’… Wins ‘Choice Song: Group’

[스포츠월드=윤기백 기자] BLACKPINK won the honor of winning the ‘Choice Song: Group’ Award at the 2019 Teen Choice Awards.

On August 11(local time), BLACKPINK won the ‘Choice Song: Group’ at the ‘2019 Teen Choice Awards’ held in LA, California. 

BLACKPINK competed with globally famous nominees such as Imagine Dragons, Jonas Brothers, Panic! at the Disco, 5 Seconds of Summer, and Why Don’t We for the ‘Choice Song: Group’ award and eventually won the trophy. 

They have also been nominated in a total of 4 different categories including not only in the ‘Choice Song: Group’, but also as the ‘Choice International Artist’, ‘Choice Fandom’, and in the ‘Choice Summer Tour’, proving their global influence. 

While setting meaningful achievements in K-Pop history, BLACKPINK faced their 3rd year debut anniversary on the 8th. Global fans of BLACKPINK celebrated their anniversary with the hashtag, ‘#ThreeYearsWithBLACKPINK’, which eventually hit no. 1 on the global trend topic on Twitter. 

BLACKPINK established themselves as a world-class girl group by standing out through their achievements on various fields including MVs, music charts, and a world tour. 

They set a milestone by becoming the ‘first K-Pop group to reach 900M views’ with their MV for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’, while their song ‘KILL THIS LOVE’ entered US Billboard’s ‘Hot 100’ and ‘Billboard 200’ as no. 41 and no. 24, respectively. They also remained in the charts for 4 consecutive weeks. Furthermore, they set a new record in K-Pop girl group history by entering UK’s ‘Official Singles Chart Top 100’ for 5 consecutive weeks. 

That is not all. BLACKPINK proved their extraordinary ticket power on their first-ever world tour. They reached an average seat share rate of 96.6% while selling out 22 concerts from a total of 32 concerts held in 23 cities of 4 continents. 

On August 17 and 18, BLACKPINK will perform at ‘A-Nation 2019’ and ‘SUMMER SONIC 2019’, which are big-scale music festivals in Japan. On October 16, they will release the Japanese version of ‘KILL THIS LOVE’ and go on a dome tour in Japan consisted of 4 concerts in 3 cities. Their schedule will begin in Tokyo Dome on December, continue in Osaka Kyocera Dome next year on January, and end in Fukuoka Yafuoku Dome on February.
