On September 11 at 6:54 AM, the MV for ‘BOOMBAYAH’ surpassed 700M YouTube views. YG Entertainment revealed a celebratory poster containing BLACKPINK’s debut years, celebrating the MV for ‘BOOMBAYAH’ surpassing 700M views after its release on August 8, 2016. As a result, BLACKPINK became the first-ever K-Pop group to hold 2 MVs with over 700M views, including ‘BOOMBAYAH’ at 700M views and ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ at 900M views. The MV for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ is about to become the first K-Pop MV to reach 1 billion views, after becoming the first video to surpass 900M views.
‘BOOMBAYAH’ is a track which notified BLACKPINK’s debut along with ‘WHISTLE’. The fierce drum beat and its unique synth sounds impress the viewers, while the chorus which shouts ‘oppa’ sounds catchy. The song is supported by the group’s fans even now, after becoming a hot topic at the time of BLACKPINK’s debut.
