[일간스포츠=김연지 기자] BLACKPINK decorated the cover of a world famous fashion magazine, proving themselves as a trend icon leading not only the music industry, but the overall cultural trend.
ELLE USA revealed their October cover on the 18th, with BLACKPINK as the main models. Along with JISOO, JENNIE, ROSE, and LISA revealing their unrivaled aura, the headline read, ‘The world’s best girl group, BLACKPINK is the future’ was written.
ELLE showed anticipation on BLACKPINK’s upcoming album and their Netflix original documentary, while spotlighting various stories until they become world famous as a K-Pop group. ELLE introduced that BLACKPINK is regarded as an artist group that follows the legacy of great girl groups such as Spice Girls in Pop history. They also agreed to Bekuh Boom’s comment, “BLACKPINK will set a new standard of girl groups in America”.
They also focused on the fact that all four members are active as ambassadors of luxury brands, as well as collaborating with Pop stars such as Lady Gaga and Selena Gomez.
BLACKPINK has raised their global presence by releasing new songs consistently this year. On May, they warmed up with their collaborative song ‘Sour Candy’ with Lady Gaga and released consecutive hits including their pre-release title single ‘How You Like That’ and ‘Ice Cream’.
The song ‘Ice Cream’ was ranked at no. 13 on the US Billboard Hot 100, setting the best K-Pop girl group record in history, as well as proving that the group is leading the Pop music trend by being ranked at no. 8 on the ‘Global 200’ chart, newly created by Billboard.
On October 2, BLACKPINK will continue their reckless march by releasing ‘THE ALBUM’, which is their first-ever debut official album being released in 4 years since they’ve made debut. On the 14th, a Netflix original documentary titled ‘BLACKPINK: Light Up The Sky’ will premiere on Netflix, which is also grabbing the attention of global fans.
