BLACKPINK’s ‘Lovesick Girls’ MV Surpasses 100M Views… 22nd Video to Surpass 100M Views
[헤럴드경제=고승희 기자] BLACKPINK’s MV for ‘Lovesick Girls’ surpassed 100M views on YouTube, in 75 hours since its release.
According to YG Entertainment on October 5, BLACKPINK’s ‘Lovesick Girls’ MV surpassed 100M views on YouTube as of 4:20 PM. The record was achieved in approximately 75 hours since its release on the 2nd and is BLACKPINK’s 22nd video to surpass 100M views. It is the fourth fastest record to reach 100M views.
The title track ‘Lovesick Girls’ from BLACKPINK’s THE ALBUM’, their official debut album released in 4 years since debut, is composed of lyrical melodies and BLACKPINK’s powerful vocals added on top of country sounding guitar riffs. Members JISOO and JENNIE participated in the writing·composing of the song.
The song asks the fundamental question of why people get hurt and wounded by love, and yet they go out looking for another love, and its MV presents BLACKPINK members’ matured emotional acting.
BLACKPINK’s YouTube channel is gathering subscribers at a very fast pace. Approximately a million new subscribers were added to BLACKPINK’s YouTube channel in 2 days since the release of their album, making them the second most subscribed artist in the world. On October 4, the group set a milestone by hitting 50M subscribers.
‘THE ALBUM’ is showing strong presence in global charts. The album topped the iTunes Album charts in a total of 57 countries, including the US. The album was also ranked at no. 7 on Apple Music’s Album chart and topped the Pop Album chart.
The songs are also performing well. 4 out of the 8 songs from their album entered the Global Chart Top 10 of Spotify, the world’s biggest streaming platform. The title track ‘Lovesick Girls’ was ranked at no. 3 on the Spotify Global Top 50 chart, ‘Bet You Wanna’ was ranked at no. 4, ‘Pretty Savage’ was ranked at no. 8, while ‘Ice Cream’ was ranked at no. 10.
