JENNIE’s MV for ‘SOLO’ Reaches 600M Hits on YouTube
[동아닷컴=전효진 기자] JENNIE of group BLACKPINK renewed her own best·fastest record as a Korean female solo artist on YouTube.
According to YG Entertainment on the 15th, JENNIE’s MV for ‘SOLO’ surpassed 600M views on YouTube as of 5:19 AM. It is rare for MVs by Korean female solo artists to surpass 100M views, while 600M views is an unrivaled figure. It proves BLACKPINK’s global presence and the fans’ ongoing support towards JENNIE.
In fact, the MV for ‘SOLO’ surpassed 100M views in 23 days, 200M views in 90 days, 300M views in 182 days, 400M views in 13 months, and 500M views in 20 months. Considering that it took approximately 26 months to reach 600M views, one can see how the upward trend has not declined.
JENNIE released ‘SOLO’ back in November 2018 as the first runner of BLACKPINK’s solo project. ‘SOLO’ received a lot of love from the global fans for its beautiful chords in the intro, its simple melody line, and the honest lyrics which directly state the confidence of a woman who is not bound to sadness after a breakup.
The song dominated real-time and daily charts of major Korean music platforms as soon as it was released, achieving a ‘perfect all-kill’. The song also topped iTunes charts in 40 different countries, became the first song by a Korean female solo artist to top the iTunes Worldwide Song chart, as well as being listed on the US iTunes Top 10.
BLACKPINK, the group JENNIE is part of, has released a total of 25 videos with over 100M views, including 3 MVs with over 1B views. Furthermore, their YouTube channel has an unrivaled number of subscribers. They are currently the second most subscribed artist in the world with over 55.6M subscribers.
BLACKPINK’s livestream concert ‘YG PALM STAGE – 2021 BLACKPINK: THE SHOW’ will be held on January 31 at 2 PM(KST). It will be the first concert being held after the release of their official debut album ‘THE ALBUM’, so the people are looking forward to the fantastic performances BLACKPINK will present.
