YG’s Treasure Box Finally Opens, BOBBY→ROSÉ·LISA→YOON to Make Relay Solo Comeback

While well-known solo artists including U-KNOW, Chungha, IU, and Hyuna confirmed to release new songs on January, artists of YG Entertainment will also join the solo comeback wave. BOBBY of iKON, ROSÉ and LISA of BLACKPINK, and YOON of WINNER will be the lineup.
The first runner will be BOBBY, who has confirmed his comeback date. BOBBY will be releasing his second solo album on January 25. It will be his solo comeback in 3 years and 4 months after the release of his first solo album ‘LOVE AND FALL’ back in September 2017.
BOBBY has showed off rhythmical and ambient BGM along with his dynamic visuals through two teasers. According to the agency, BOBBY will present a unique change he has never presented before through the upcoming album.
The songs that will be written by himself are also a point to look out for. At the time of the release of his album, BOBBY participated in the writing and composing of 10 songs including the double title tracks ‘I LOVE YOU’ and ‘RUNAWAY’, along with songs ‘ALIEN’, ‘TENDAE’, ‘UP’, ‘SECRET’, ‘IN LOVE’, ‘SWIM’, ‘FIREWORK’, and ‘LEAN ON ME’, presenting his musical universe with variety. The people are curious on the colors he would’ve put on his track list which will be revealed soon to the public.
ROSÉ and LISA of BLACKPINK plan to release songs that have been completed last year within the first half of 2021. The agency previously revealed, “ROSÉ and LISA are preparing to shoot the MVs for their solo songs. Since JISOO has filming schedule for the drama ‘Snowdrop’, ROSÉ and LISA will be releasing solo tracks first”.
The solo debut of the two members have been confirmed 3 years ago. The agency raised the fans’ anticipation by revealing that the other members will also make solo debut after JENNIE showed off her strong presence through her first single album ‘SOLO’ back in 2018.
The people are looking forward to ROSÉ and LISA’s new charms that will be presented through their solo tracks. All 4 members of BLACKPINK are capable of becoming centers of the team. ROSÉ, who made debut through YG’s Australia audition when she was 16, has fulfilled her role as BLACKPINK’s main vocalist by filling up the group’s songs with her unique soulful voice. LISA, who made debut through YG’s foreign audition back in 2010, is the main dancer and rapper of BLACKPINK with not only great rap skills, but also high-level performance capabilities.
YOON, the leader of WINNER, is also finishing up his solo album he has been preparing for over 3 years, with the goal of releasing the album within the first half of 2021. He has already completed MV related meetings. He planned the release to be last year but got delayed due to music variety show schedules and acting as MBC ‘King of Masked Singer’ Chow Yun Fat with 6 consecutive wins and as Lim Gunwook of MBC’s drama series ‘Kairos’.
YOON will be making his solo album release in 11 years since Mnet’s ‘Superstar K2’ back in 2010. He released 3 singles consecutively within a month by releasing his first solo single ‘IT RAINS’, ‘Wild And Young’, and ‘STEALER’ back in July 2013.
As much as the fans have waited, he is planning to repay them by participating in the writing and composing of all tracks. The people are looking forward to the great quality of the songs that will consist the album, due to his great musicality. That is, YOON has been acknowledged for his musicality by writing most tracks of WINNER’s albums, since ‘2014 S/S’ released back in 2014 to their 3rd official album ‘Remember’ released last year on April. WINNER’s representative songs including ‘REALLY REALLY’, ‘LOVE ME LOVE ME’, ‘EVERYDAY’, ‘MILLIONS’, and ‘AH YEAH’ which have swept the charts are songs created through YOON’s touch.
BIGBANG’s leader G-DRAGON is also preparing for his comeback. It has been known that he is often spotted at YG Entertainment’s new headquarters and YGX, working on his new album. The agency has previously revealed that “It’s true that G-DRAGON is working on new songs” when there were rumors regarding G-DRAGON’s comeback last year on November.
It is unveiled whether it will be his solo comeback, or whether it will be BIGBANG’s comeback. G-DRAGON has renewed his contract with YG for the 3rd time after he was discharged from the army back in October 2019. He was scheduled to restart his activities as BIGBANG through the ‘Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival’ which was to be held last year on April in Indio, California, but the event was cancelled due to the COVID19, putting a halt on the group’s scheduled comeback.
If he confirms his solo release, he will be returning to the fans in 4 years. G-DRAGON has previously released the mini album ‘KWON JI YONG’ with songs ‘BULLSHIT’ and ‘Untitled’ back in June 2017, dominating music charts in and out of Korea.
