BLACKPINK’s ‘THE SHOW’ Watched the Most in the US… Accounts for 19.2%

According to YG Entertainment on February 4, BLACKPINK’s first-ever livestream concert ‘YG PALM STAGE – 2021 BLACKPINK: THE SHOW’ had the most number of membership holders in the US.
19.2% of the total membership subscribers were accounted for in the US, which is the country with the biggest music market in the world. It shows BLACKPINK’s strong presence and popularity within the mainstream Pop industry.
Following the US, countries including Thailand, Philippines, Japan, Mexico, Korea, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia, Brazil, Canada, and the UK followed, showing BLACKPINK’s global presence.
As the title ‘THE SHOW’ directly suggests, it was the ‘one and only show by artist BLACKPINK’. The group revealed performances of songs from ‘THE ALBUM’ and ROSÉ’s upcoming solo single for the first time, presenting ‘THE SHOW’ as a ‘show’ focusing on the music itself.
With approximately 280 thousand membership subscribers, ‘THE SHOW’ gathered the biggest number of audience in K-Pop girl group livestream concert history. Furthermore, BLACKPINK’s YouTube channel also gathered numerous new subscribers. After the concert was announced, the channel gained 2.7M new subscribers which adds up to a total of 56.8M. They are the most subscribed female artist in the world, right behind Justin Bieber, who is the most subscribed artist in the world with 60.7M subscribers.
On the date of the concert, the hashtag ‘#THE SHOWToday’ became the no. 1 trend on global social media. It topped Twitter’s Trend rankings, while the names of all 4 BLACKPINK members were also ranked within the top 10. Hashtags regarding ‘THE SHOW’ also surpassed a million on Facebook and Instagram as well.
Foreign media including the US Billboard, Variety, Teen Vogue, and Nylon also spotlighted and praised BLACKPINK. The press of Japan, the country with the fourth biggest number of membership subscribers, also showed heated attention and gathered follow-up news. Terrestrial networks of Japan including Nihon TV, Fuji TV, and TBS gave major coverage on the related news.
Meanwhile, after successfully completing ‘THE SHOW’, BLACKPINK will continue their solo projects. ROSÉ’s upcoming sub-title track ‘GONE’ and its MV was revealed for the first time at the concert, raising the fans’ anticipation.
