ROSÉ’s Solo Album ‘R’ Surpasses 500 Thousand Pre-Orders… Biggest Record in K-Pop Female Solo Artist History
[매일경제 스타투데이=박세연 기자] BLACKPINK ROSÉ’s solo album ‘R’ has received over 500 thousand pre-orders.
According to YG Entertainment on March 15, ROSÉ’s solo album ‘R’ to be officially released on the 16th has received 404,318 CD pre-orders, 49,058 KIT pre-orders, and 52,129 LP pre-orders.
It is the biggest record in K-Pop female solo artist history. The pre-orders were made not only in Korea but also from countries including the US, China, and Japan, showing BLACKPINK and ROSÉ’s global presence.
ROSÉ’s solo album ‘R’ has become globally popular since its release on the 12th. The title track ‘On The Ground’ has topped iTunes Top Song charts in 51 different countries, as well as the Worldwide Chart. The song also entered the Global Top 50 chart of Spotify, the world’s biggest music platform, as no. 8 and has found its place in the top 10.
The album is also ranked at no. 1 on the Digital Album Sales Chart of QQ Music, China’s biggest music platform, for 3 consecutive days. The title track ‘On The Ground’ has topped not only the daily chart of the according platform, but also the weekly chart.
The MV for ‘On The Ground’ has also achieved remarkable success. The video became the ‘Most Watched Video in the First 24 Hours’ on YouTube after its release and has currently surpassed 70M views. Looking at the statistics, the video is expected to set another K-Pop female solo artist record when it surpasses 100M views.
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK, the group ROSÉ is part of, is known as the ‘YouTube Queens’ with a total of 26 videos with over 100M views. Their channel has 58.8M subscribers, which is the biggest number of subscribers among all female artists in the world. They are right behind Justin Bieber, who is the most subscribed artist on YouTube in the world, which shows BLACKPINK’s growing global presence.
