BLACKPINK ROSÉ Becomes ‘First-Ever’ K-Pop Artist to Top US Billboard’s Global Chart

[TV리포트=김명신 기자] BLACKPINK ROSÉ topped the US Billboard Global Chart for the first time as a K-Pop solo artist.

On the 22nd(local time), US Billboard revealed ranks of 2 major charts, accumulating data from March 12 until the 18th, through their website article.

They were the ‘Billboard Global 200’ and ‘Billboard Global Excl. U.S.’ charts. ROSÉ’s ‘On The Ground’ topped both charts. Furthermore, the sub-title track ‘Gone’ was also ranked at no. 29 and at no. 17, respectively.

The ‘Billboard Global 200’ ranks the most popular songs based on streams and downloads accumulated from 200 different regions of the world, including the US. Since it is a new standard created to reflect the latest market trend, the chart is establishing its position as one of the main global charts on Billboard.

After releasing her solo debut album on the 12th, ROSÉ is setting milestones in various global charts, including the US Billboard.

‘On The Ground’ has topped iTunes Top Song Charts in 51 different countries including the US, as well as being ranked at no. 1 on the Global YouTube Song Chart(3/12~3/18) and the MV chart.

The song also entered the Global Top 50 chart of Spotify, the world’s biggest music platform, as no. 8 and has solidified its position in the top 10. The song was also ranked at no. 43 on UK’s Official Chart Singles Top 100, proving ROSÉ’s global presence once again.

The MV for ‘On The Ground’ has surpassed 100M views on the 20th. The record was achieved in a week since its release, and was the fastest record achieved by a Korean female solo artist.

Album sales are also gathering attention. ROSÉ’s solo album ‘R’, which received 500 thousand pre-orders, surpassed over 280 thousand in sales on the first day of its release on the 16th, making the people look forward to the final initial sales record being announced on the 23rd.
