BLACKPINK to Join Weverse on August 2
[스타뉴스=김수진 기자] On July 14, YG Entertainment revealed that BLACKPINK will join Weverse, the global fan community platform.
BLACKPINK’s Weverse fan community will open on August 2. It is expected that the members will expand their communion with BLINKs(fandom) all over the world.
Since BLACKPINK is soon to celebrate their 5-year debut anniversary(August 8), the people are looking forward to the special contents and events the group will be preparing. YG explained, “It is part of BLACKPINK’s ‘4+1 PROJECT’”.
BLACKPINK is the third artist to join Weverse from YG, following TREASURE and iKON. YG has recently announced that they will strengthen their strategic partnership with Hive(formerly Big Hit Entertainment) and Weverse Company.
After captivating the public as soon as making debut back in August 2016, BLACKPINK established themselves as global stars by releasing hits including ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ and ‘Kill This Love’.
Their first-ever full-length album ‘THE ALBUM’ released last year on October was ranked at no. 2 on the US Billboard 200 and UK’s Official Chart, renewing their own best K-Pop girl group record.
Furthermore, a total of 1.3M copies of the album were sold, becoming the first-ever million seller K-Pop girl group(based on Hanteo/Gaon Charts).
With a total of 29 videos with over 100M views, BLACKPINK currently has over 63M YouTube subscribers and 22.8M Spotify followers, which are globally top notch.
