M/V for BLACKPINK’s ‘How You Like That’ Reaches 1 billion Views…5th Video To Reach 1 billion
[헤럴드POP=박서현 기자] The M/V for BLACKPINK’s ‘How You Like That’ has reached 1 billion views on YouTube. This makes their 5th billion view M/V and broke the record of reaching such a feat in the shortest amount time. The previous record holder was also BLACKPINK adding even more meaning to their achievement.
According to YG Entertainment, the M/V for ‘How You Like That’ reached 1 billion views on YouTube as of 11:11 a.m. of the 12th. This was 505 days after it released on June 26th last year. They broke their previous record of ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ which reached a billion views in 514 days.
As a result, BLACKPINK has now 5 music videos which have more than 1 billion views including ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU (1.7 billion views)’, ‘Kill This Love (1.4 billion views)’, ‘BOOMBAYAH (1.3 billion views)’, ‘As If It’s Your Last (1.3 billion views)’ and ‘How You Like That (1 billion views)’. In particular, the M/V for ‘How You Like That’ has been breaking the first·best·shortest time record achieved by ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ one by one, drawing even more attention on how it will do in the future.
‘How You Like That’ which has strong beats that stand out, portrays the message of soaring high no matter what situation one is in. It won the ‘Song of The Summer’ in the 2020 US MTV Video Music Awards, and took the first spot in the ‘Global Top Summer Song’ chosen by YouTube in the same year.
‘How You Like That’ reached remarkable achievements in major charts when it first got released. Not only did it take over all music streaming charts in Korea, but it took the 2nd spot in Spotify’s Global Top 50 Chart, and reached the 1st spot in the iTunes chart in a total of 64 countries including the U.S. It reached 20th and 33rd on UK’s Official Single Top 100 and Billboard Hot 100 respectively, making their presence clear globally.
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK who has 32 videos on YouTube which reached more than hundreds of million views, have now more than 21 billion cumulative views with their number of subscribers reaching almost 700 million. This is the greatest number of subscribers out of all male and female artists around the world.
