Psy’s MV for ‘Gentleman’ #1 on US iTunes in a blink of an eye & ‘Gangnam’ stands at #7
Psy (his real name Park Jae-sang) has finally reached the top on the American iTunes Top Music Video Chart with his new music video of his already-viral song ‘Gentleman.’
On April 21, just 20 minutes past noon (Korean time), Psy’s ‘Gentleman’ ranked the very top. It stands on No.1 amongst all the different genres in iTunes. The music video was officially listed on the American chart on April 18. Counting in the fact that there is a time difference between Korea and the United States, it can be said that his music video ranked the top immediately after its released.
The world star unveiled his new music video ‘Gentleman’ on April 13 at 9p.m. all across the world, and in just 80 hours it gained 100 million hits on YouTube. This was the shortest period of time a video took to rake in this many viewers in the video-website’s history. And in just 174 hours, the clicks soared to 180 million. It is creating a tornado-like syndrome all across the world.
Now people in the U.S. will be able to purchase the music video on iTunes for $1.99. This is going to be great news for Psy, especially for his finance.
While ‘Gentleman’ ranked No.1, his previous mega-hit video ‘Gangnam Style’ still stands at No.7, while his video featuring Hyuna ‘Oppa Is Just My Style’ stands at No. 131. Three of his songs are ranked within the top 200 at the same time, and this is a clear testament to his global stardom.
Apart from his viral new music video, Psy’s song ‘Gentleman’ currently stands at No.25 on iTunes Top Songs Chart in the U.S.
