iKON ‘BUT YOU’ Ranks 1st on Japan’s Weekly Chart…Proves Popularity Ahead of Tour
[앳스타일=박승현 기자] iKON once again proved their everlasting popularity in Japan by taking over Japan’s major weekly music charts.
According to YG Entertainment on the 11th, iKON’s title-song ‘BUT YOU’ ranked 1st on Japan’s Rakuten Music Weekly Chart. The song also was highly ranked on Line Music’s Weekly Chart, showing how much love they’re receiving from the public.
The title-song for iKON’s 4th mini-album ‘FLASHBACK’ which was released on the 3rd went straight up to the first spot of major music sites in Japan. Their popularity is continuing on the 9th day of their release, with the song maintaining the highest spot on Rakuten Music.
Local fans’ expectations are running high as iKON will be holding 6 concerts in Japan’s two cities, Kobe and Tokyo, from the 2nd and 10th of July.
iKON also said “We’re happy we have more songs we can sing at concerts. Results are important as well, but I think the best accomplishment will be doing a performance we can be satisfied with at the concert, and show the audiences we have many different colors”.
A total of 6 songs have been listed on iKON’s 4th mini-album ‘FLASHBACK’, including the title-song ‘BUT YOU’, ‘DRAGON’, ‘FORE REAL?’, ‘GOLD’, ‘NAME’, along with ‘AT EASE’ which was a song the group competed with on Mnet’s ‘KINGDOM: LEGENDARY WAR’.
iKON’s influence has been long accumulated in Japan. Right after their debut in 2015, iKON took the first spot on Japan’s Oricon Chart, and swept rookie awards that year at major Japanese music festivals such as ‘Japan Gold Disc Awards’, and ‘Japan Record Awards’. They then accumulated more than 1 million audiences for their Japanese tour in 2019, selling all tickets for their show.
