BABYMONSTER Unveils RUKA’s Introduction Video…Compliments Pour-in
[OSEN=선미경 기자] A video that shows individual charms’ of prospective members for YG’s new girl-group BABYMONSTER has been unveiled for the first time.
At 12AM of the 9th, YG Entertainment released a video titled ‘BABYMONSTER – Introducing RUKA’ on their social media. The 20-year-old Japanese member was the first to be introduced to the public through this content.
RUKA said she had practiced dancing for more than 10 years at the time of her YG audition, and lifted the atmosphere with her fearless perfected performance. The fact that she’d been dancing more such a long time could be seen through the way she interpreted the song. She showed how she practiced day and night regardless of where she was, and said, “I feel happy when dancing”.
RUKA’s performance was further perfected through YG’s systematic performance. YG Executive Producer YANG HYUN SUK said, “RUKA is a trainee that was always good at dancing, and has great facial expressions. I’ve never criticized her with her dancing”. LEEJUNG said “She has very strong basic skills and has that experience that’s hard to have for her age. Not only can she pull off the choreography, but she has this unrivaled presence when freestyling”.
Not only was it her dancing skills that stole the viewers’ attention, but her intense rapping that had YG’s hip-hop identity was also noticeable. During monthly evaluations, despite being a Japanese member, RUKA presented perfect Korean skills and performed a self-written Korean wrap. YG producer BIGTONE said, “RUKA just seems like a rapper even when she’s not doing anything”.
After showing her abilities as an ‘all-rounder’, she also shared snippets of her daily life. She enjoyed dancing along the music with AHYEON and CHIQUITA, having fun each other, and put a smile on global fans’ face by saying black coffee still feels bitter for her.
She also shared some of her honest stories. RUKA said “I’m going to work even harder to pay back the love my family has shown me. They’ll be waiting for my debut more than anyone. I want to debut as a great artist and show my own charms”, making the viewers emotional.”
BABYMONSTER is a new rookie girl-group YG is releasing in 7 years since BLACKPINK. Most of the members are in their teens and consists of 3 Koreans (AHYEON, HARAM, RORA), 2 Thai (PHARITA, CHIQUITA), and 2 Japanese members (RUKA, ASA). The fact that they’re a multi-national group shows how YG Entertainment is targeting the global market with BABYMONSTER. YG’s executive producer YANG HYUN SUK notified the launch himself in 3 years and 6 months as a producer, and since YG has been preparing for this project for a long time, the group is expected to change the global music scene, going beyond K-Pop.
