[스포츠경향=이유민 기자] As BLACKPINK continues to make waves during their largest K-pop girl group world tour, the quartet is set to massively expand their North American stadium concerts.

According to YG Entertainment on the 16th, BLACKPINK has confirmed additional encore performances at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on August 12th, Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on August 18th, Oracle Park in San Francisco on August 22nd, and Dodger Stadium in LA on August 26th.

With this expansion, JENNIE, JISOO, LISA, and ROSÉ will be meeting fans across 10 North American cities in a total of 18 performances, thanks to explosive support and interest from local fans.

Initially, the North American tour was scheduled to wrap up with 14 performances in seven cities in 2022. However, due to an overwhelming demand for additional concerts, YG Entertainment decided to host encore performances.

What’s particularly noteworthy is that all of the concert venues are large-scale stadiums that can accommodate tens of thousands of fans. These performances serve as an indicator of BLACKPINK’s strong presence and immense ticket power in the United States, the “homeland of pop music.”

In fact, BLACKPINK performed as the first Asian artist headliner at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on April 16th, a global festival where music fans worldwide gather. Their electrifying performances captivated the audience, and the group is expected to continue this momentum on stage again on the 22nd.

Meanwhile, BLACKPINK is in the midst of their largest K-pop girl group world tour, ‘BLACKPINK WORLD TOUR [BORN PINK],’ which is expected to draw approximately 1.5 million fans. Following their successful North American and European concerts last year, they are now engaging with more fans in Asia. In July, they will be the first K-pop artists to headline the prestigious British music festival, ‘Hyde Park British Summer Time Festival.’
