[이데일리=윤기백 기자] BLACKPINK has showcased their powerful influence even with a game OST.

Last month, on the 25th, BLACKPINK announced their OST titled ‘THE GIRLS’ for the new mobile game based on the group IP, ‘BLACKPINK The Game’. The song, which conveys a message about living a proactive and courageous life, became a hot topic as members JENNIE and ROSÉ participated in writing and composing the track.

Upon its release, ‘THE GIRLS’ dominated iTunes song charts by ranking first in 30 countries and took top spots in worldwide charts. On Spotify, the world’s largest music streaming platform, it initially entered the Daily Top Songs chart at 45th and later successfully secured a spot on the Weekly Top Songs chart, maintaining steady popularity.

YG Entertainment, the agency representing BLACKPINK, stated, “It’s quite exceptional for a game OST without official promotions or performances to achieve such results. This not only reaffirms BLACKPINK’s solid position in the mainstream pop market but also underscores the unwavering trust listeners have in their music.”

Despite not featuring the members directly, the music video for ‘THE GIRLS’ is a 3D avatar video. Yet, it ranked 4th on the ‘Global YouTube Song Top 100 Chart’ (from 2023.8.25 to 2023.8.31) and is rapidly gaining views, currently surpassing 211.4 million views, drawing significant attention.
