“YG’s Youngest Daughters BABYMONSTER… From Individual Dorm Rooms to Support from G-DRAGON”
[뉴스엔=서유나 기자] YG’s youngest daughters, BABYMONSTER, recently boasted about each member having their own room at their dormitory.
On November 15th, during the KBS Cool FM show “Lee Eunji’s Gayo Plaze” (hereinafter referred to as “Gayo Plaza”), BABYMONSTER made a guest appearance following the release of their first full album. When asked to introduce their group, they proudly declared, “We are YG’s youngest daughters,” and “a hotspot for live performances.” BABYMONSTER also expressed pride in their latest song featuring participation from G-DRAGON. Not only did he contribute to composing ‘DRIP’ but also helped record the demo version of ASA’s rap part. The group expressed gratitude, saying, “Other seniors also helped us a lot. We’ve received much support.”
The members were seen praising each other’s triple high notes and dance breaks, showcasing their tight-knit friendship. When asked if there was another member’s part they desired, AHYEON playfully responded, “I dare to challenge it, but I want it. CHIQUITA has a part where she takes off her jacket, and we come out together. I want to do it from behind,” to which she added jokingly, “Are you declaring withdrawal from RUKA’s brigade?” causing laughter as RUKA retorted, “I feel slighted,” and “Sorry, man.”
AHYEON shared behind-the-scenes stories from the music video wire action scenes. “I really like heights, I even wear this expression when I ride roller coasters. It’s the same when I do vertical drops. Wire action feels freeing. I went up to the fifth floor, from where you can see Incheon’s Wolmido. The director asked if I wanted to come down, but I said, ‘I want to stay up here longer,'” she shared, expressing her gratitude.
A listener texted in, curious about who lives where since BABYMONSTER’s dormitory is now divided. RUKA responded, “RORA, PHARITA, AHYEON, and I live together, and CHIQUITA, RAMI, and ASA live on a different floor.”
Regarding spending all day together and then being at the dorm, Lee Eunji asked if it wasn’t tiring. “That’s why we have separate rooms. Personal time is important. We hardly ever come out of our rooms,” they revealed. However, “When we go out for music shows and stop by the dorm, we have watched the broadcasts together,” they added, noting they still share quality time.
Lee Eunji was also curious about the gestures they make while rapping. RUKA mentioned, “I’ve been rapping since my trainee days. Initially, I didn’t think much about gestures; they naturally became more refined over time. Now, I don’t even plan them, they just come naturally,” adding that even when no one is watching in the recording booth, she still makes gestures. RAMI chimed in, “It seems like RUKA and ASA do that.”
When asked who the hardest working and the laziest members were, the consensus for the laziest was CHIQUITA. PHARITA explained, “Since CHIQUITA is a baby, she needs more sleep and eating time. I don’t live with her, but it’s somewhat apparent.” RAMI revealed, “In our dorm, ASA unnie is the last one to come out to take the elevator. It’s been more so recently.”
BABYMONSTER, a girl group under YG Entertainment, officially debuted on April 1, 2024. Just seven months post-debut, on November 1, they released their first full album ‘DRIP’. This set a record for the fastest album release within YG Entertainment. The album includes a pre-released summer song ‘FOREVER’, the double title tracks ‘DRIP’, ‘CLIK CLAK’, and a total of nine songs. Notably, ‘DRIP’ garnered attention as G-DRAGON participated in the composition.
