YG’s new boy group survival program: Episode 1 on Ment + tvN Aug 23
[스타뉴스 김성희 기자] One of the largest entertainment agencies in South Korea, YG Entertainment, will be revealing on television the process of debuting the first new boy group since BIGBANG (GD, T.O.P., TAEYANG, DASEUNG, SEUNGRI) 7 years ago.
At 10p.m. of August 23, WIN (stands for WHO IS NEXT?) will be aired simultaneously on two cable channels Mnet and tvN. The program will determine the formation of YG’s new boy group.
‘WIN Survival’ will have 2 teams: Group A consists 5 members including the ex-contestant of Superstar K2 KANG SEUNG YOON, and the ex-contestant of K-Pop Star, LEE SEUNG HOON. The average age is 20 years old. Group B consists of 6 members with an average age of 17 years old, and among them is the then 12-year-old boy rapper B.I who featured in MC Mong’s ‘Indian Boy’, and Koo Jun-hee, another ex-contestant of K-Pop Star. Only one of these two groups will make a debut after the 10-episode show.
YG’s long-year trainees will be divided into Groups A and B for a real battle, and the result depends solely on the viewers, which is different to other audition programs. The winning team will make a debut under the group name WINNER, and the losing one will face a break-up or have to wait indefinitely until they can become professional artists.
G-DRAGON, a fellow artist from the same entertainment agency, will be using his upcoming introduction song ‘LET’S SHAKE THE WORLD‘ in his solo album as the title song for ‘WIN’ program.
Further details will be announced by YG’s CEO YANG HYUN-SUK at the production sneak preview of WIN on August 20. He is devoting much of his energy in the show as well.
