AKMU goes to Japan April 14 to film new MV
[OSEN=손남원 기자] The sibling duo AKDONG MUSICIAN (AKMU) who brought a sensation to the music world this spring is said to have left for Japan urgently in the morning of April 14. All the attention is on AKMU as no YG artists were scheduled to perform in Japan at the beginning of the week. So what was the reason for their departure?
YG kick started the YG FAMILY CONCERT in great success last week in Japan’s Osaka Dome. As AKMU knocked down all charts and even received a nickname “national siblings,” YG excluded them from the entire concert because the agency thought focusing on domestic promotion is more important than going overseas for a concert.
Thus it is hard to predict why the siblings left for Japan. It would not be right to think they are being rewarded to have a holiday as the two newbies discovered on K-Pop Star brought huge success after LEEHI. They are still sweeping the charts with flying colors and are being flooded with offers to appear on music and other TV programs.
Moreover, YG’s founder YANG HYUN SUK once mentioned that the song that becomes most popular for the one week after the album release will become the final title track along with “200%” and “MELTED.” As promised, YG unveiled that the 3rd title track is “GIVE LOVE.”
According OSEN’s report, AKMU’s reason for going to Japan was to film the music video of “GIVE LOVE.” Keeping in mind YANG’s usual audacious promotional methods, this is nothing new. He is keeping the promise of letting the public choose the final title track, and immediately chose a foreign location for filming the music video.
It is unconventional and unprecedented to film all three title songs’ music videos in such a grand scale for a newly debuted artist. Considering that entertainment agencies invest hundreds of million won on one music video, once can assume the power of YG’s vigorous promotions.
This is also a proof of YANG’s affection for the duo. According to YG’s personnel, YANG personally came up with the idea to let the fans decide the final title songs, and also decided to send AKMU to Japan for music video filming.
AKMU would not be going to Japan immediately after the 3rd title track has been confirmed, if it wasn’t for YANG’s passionate will to accomplish these.
