PSY’s “DADDY, The Main Game Begins Now
[OSEN=김사라 기자] Singer PSY has begun the countdown for his comeback in earnest.
Before the imminent release of his new song “DADDY”, PSY shot the song’s large-scale music video for five days from the 3 this month, in the Seoul and Busan area. People are paying keen attention to if PSY, who has hit the global music market hard with “Gangnam Style” and “Gentleman”, could reach a new peak with his new song “DADDY”.
In June this year, PSY unveiled pre-release song “HANGOVER”, which created sensation for his collaboration with SnoopDogg, as well as for the music video where G-DRAGON and CL appeared as cameo. The music video of “HANGVOER” reached 100 million views on YouTube within 40 days from its release, and took the No.1 in American Billboard’s segment of “The most-watched K-Pop music video in America during June” and “The most-watched K-Pop video in the world in June”.
Since PSY has already proven his influence with the pre-release song, his official comeback song “DADDY” is standing under a big spotlight. In an interview with American Billboard, PSY said, “I’m coming back with funny dance song ‘DADDY’ in this August. It’s my official single following pre-release song ‘HANGOVER’”.
The music video of “DADDY” was shot in Seoul and Busan. There may be some additional works, but it is known that all five-day schedules for shooting of the large-scale music video including aerial shooting have been successfully completed.
Notably, Busan residents who witnessed PSY in his Busan location spread the news on SNS, drawing a big attention. In the new music video, PSY will show a new choreography that includes group dance with dancers. PSY has hit consecutive homeruns with “Gangnam Style” in July 2012 and “Gentleman” in April 2013. Notably, the music video of “Gangnam Style” set a world-record on YouTube, with the number of its views reaching 2 billion on May 31 this year.
