[On-Site IS] TABLO’s Trust: Hyuk Oh & Nineteen-Year Old Genius for “Show Me” (Overall)
[일간스포츠=박현택 기자] TABLO talked about his label High Ground, Hyuk Oh’s plagiarism issue and “Show Me the Money 4.”
In Marry Hall of Sogang University in the morning of July 30 the press conference of “Now Playing,” TABLO talked about High Ground’s band Hyuk Oh who suffered a rumor of plagiarism.
TABLO commented, “I have gotten to know them listening to Hyuk Oh’s music as a fan.” “We have been meeting up since then, and I was absorbed by Hyuk Oh’s pure passion and his attitude for music, and his dreams. It hasn’t even been a year but in years time the attention on them will be showcased as something that will be unleashed as potential.”
Hyuk Oh’s “Panda Bear” released in January has been in the center of attention by being suspected as a plagiarized song of Beach Fossils’ “Golden Age.” On July 30 the American indie rock band posted two comparative videos on their official Twitter. Hyuk Oh’s leader Hyuk put up a screenshot of Beach Fossils’ Twitter and put it up on Instagram. He commented, “I did not plagiarize. I have pride for music and there was not a moment I wrote a song with bad intentions. Doing music for the rest of my life is my dream, and if I wanted to be acknowledged by copying someone else’s song, I wouldn’t have started it at all.” Later Beach Fossils posted that they were just joking, calming down the hype.
TABLO continued, “Hyuk Oh is our first artist and we want to support them so they can perform in the best environment. We are going to discover an unknown artist next and help them be known to the public.” He added, “One day I was playing with Haru in the playground, and this person approached me showed me their relative’s song. I got the songs via email and it was amazing. The songs belonged to a 19-year-old high-schooler, a musician with less than 1 year of experience. This artist said, they got an autograph from us 2 years ago. They told me back then ‘I want to do music.’ And I apparently told them, we will meet again when they became a great musician. And now they will be joining us for real.”
TABLO also talked about “Show Me the Money,” which is the hot topic of the season. About the provocative lyrics, he commented, “Thousands of people are involved in creating that one program, including the contestants and the crew. What happens on site cannot be perceived exactly the same by everyone. Every single perception can be different. I am a rapper myself and what I need to do is turning my thoughts into lyrics.”
EPIK HIGH’s small theater concert “NOW PLAYING” is entertaining in every way as the viewers can pick a theme of their choice out of the six which are action, human, mellow, horror and SF. It starts on July 31 to August 2, and then from August 7 to 9 at Sogang University Marry Hall. For 6 days EPIK HIGH will perform 8 times. The trio has been travelling around the world for Korea, Asia, Japan Club and North American Tours, mesmerizing fans all around the world.
