[Music Talk Talk] iKON’s debut D-1, finally making debut after long years of training
[OSEN=손남원 기자] YG’s rookie boy group iKON finally makes official debut tomorrow (September 15). It has taken two years since survival audition show ” WIN” in which YG trainees competed in team A and team B for official debut.
From the days when iKON’s members were recruited as YG trainees and began to dream about their debut, it has been four to six months. The trainees devoted their young days for such a long time to become an idol singer. The days of harsh and hard training were long for iKON and now it is time for them to reveal the result. The outcome will be unveiled tomorrow in the early morning.
Fans’ expectations for such idol group iKON has now reached the peak. There has been no idol group like iKON so far, who built such a formidable fandom even before the formation of the team itself, not to mention official debut. Will iKON be able to be the icon of new generation in this fall of 2015?
YG’s head producer YANG HYUN SUK has trained and polished iKON even harsher than BIGBANG’s training in the past. He says, “iKON has submitted more than 50 songs since the formation of the team. Of course, in the beginning, the quality of those songs was not good and I scolded them a lot. However, from this summer, they began to create songs ‘good enough to be released as they are’. That was possible because the members got more resolved for their debut in the process of doing their best to write good songs, getting rejected repeatedly, and then rewriting the songs again and again.”
YANG’s training course for YG trainees is well-known as a very harsh process that produces stars without fail. That is one of the reasons why iKON’s debut is already creating a big sensation.
Formidable rookie iKON has seven members: BOBBY, B.I, KOO JUN HOE, SONG YOON HYEONG, KIM DONG HYUK, KIM JIN HWAN, and JUNG CHAN WOO. iKON’s label YG unveiled a teaser for iKON’s debut on its official blog on the 13 this month at noon. The members in the image are wearing a big smile. The smile shows how they feel for their long-awaited debut.
Recently, music charts are dominated by the songs of “The Infinite Challenge” and “Show Me the Money” show. Because of those songs, other full-time singers’ songs have failed to enter top places on charts for more than a month. If iKON can make their debut song take a high ranking on charts, that will mark the successful beginning of iKON’s career.
YG has announced that the title of iKON’s debut song to be released on the 15 at 0 o’clock will be “MY TYPE”. YG’s famous songwriter CHOICE 37 and KUSH who have written a lot of hits, as well as iKON’s leader B.I took part in writing “MY TYPE”. Plus, the poster also showed the fact that KUSH, B.I, and BOBBY took part in writing the lyrics of the song.
The scale of iKON’s debut plan is enormous. The team will hold a debut concert at a large-scale stadium with 15,000 seats, and the 12 songs to be included in the debut album are all written by the members themselves. It is a very exceptional case for a rookie. That may be possible because the team has already built recognition among the public by showing their talent in Mnet’s “WIN”, “MIX & MATCH”, and “SHOW ME THE MONEY 3” show and earned fandom big enough to fill the large concert hall.
