[일간스포츠=엄동진 기자] iKON, this year’s hottest rookie, will put on a special stage for the Melon Music Awards.

iKON will be participating at the Melon Music Awards, which will be held at the Olympic Gymnastics Stadium at 7 PM on November 7. Since this will be their first time participating in an award ceremony, iKON has prepared a special performance.

iKON will be performing their a rock version of their hit hiphop single “RHYTHM TA” with a band.  Along with “RHYTHM TA”, they will also sing “MY TYPE”, their debut single that has swept both online and offline charts. They are candidate for the New Artist of the Year award.

On the same day, iKON will release their two new singles. The main single is a team song, and the sub single is a duet song for BOBBY and B.I titled “ANTHEM”. “ANTHEM” is a hiphop song co-made by TEDDY, BOBBY and B.I. It is the first time that TEDDY participated in making music for iKON. Expectations are running high for the synergy effect created between YG’s hot new group and YG’s leading producer.

BOBBY and B.I is known for their special teamwork. They have led the team together since the survival show “WIN” and helped the team to grow. They also appeared on Show Me The Money 3 together. It could be said that they are the GD and TAEYANG of BIGBANG.

YG has high expectations for iKON in November and December and mounted an all-out effort for the team. YG’s CEO YANG HYUN SUK told his staff to make a mega hit single that will surpass “MY TYPE”. As a result, YG’s top producers such as TEDDY and KUSH made songs for iKON and the MVs were directed by renowned directors from home and abroad such as Seo Hyun Seung and Han Sa Min. iKON’s stylists have been changed to help iKON take the music scene by storm in November and December.

iKON will be releasing new singles on November 15 and a new album in December to round up their debut year nicely. They will be focusing on the Korean market until the end of this year.

According to an YG staff member, “iKON was mostly in Japan in October and Korean fans weren’t able to see them a lot. Fortunately, iKON will be concentrating on Korea from November until the end of this year to thank the fans for their support for iKON’s debut album.”
