[2015 MAMA] 2NE1 Performs as a Group for the First Time in Two Years
[일간스포츠=김진석 기자] All the four members of 2NE1 (DARA, BOM, CL, MINZY) went up on the stage to perform as a group for the first time in two years.
2NE1 sang “FIRE” and “I AM THE BEST” at the 2015 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA), which took place at the Hong Kong Asia World-Expo Arena on December 2.
2NE1 performing at the award ceremony was a top secret. It was officially announced that CL would perform but not as a group. It was the first time 2NE1 performed as a group since 2014. They were still powerful and full of charisma. It seemed as if they were never on a break.
The Mnet Asian Music Awards is Asia’s most prominent music festival organized by Mnet. It has been held seven times so far. MAMA started as the Mnet KM Music Video Festival in 1999. Since then, it has evolved to match Korea’s growing music industry. For some ten years, MAMA was held only in Korea. But since 2010, MAMA has been held outside of Korea: in Macao in 2010, in Singapore in 2011, and from 2012 to 2015 in Hong Kong. It has indeed become an international music festival. At this year’s MAMA, a new category for Best Professional has been added to celebrate distinguished music producers, recording engineers and show producers.
Top performing artists such as f(x), Pet Shop Boys, BIGBANG, EXO, SHINee, JYP, Monsta X, Bangtan Boys, GOT7, Hyuna, PSY, Seventeen, San E, Jessi, CL, and iKON attended this year’s MAMA.
