iKON became the foreign artist who held a concert at Budokan within the shortest period of time since debut
[스포츠조선=이정혁 기자] While iKON is enjoying big popularity with their Japan arena tour, they proved their substantial influence as a “monstrous rookie” by holding a concert at Budokan, the mecca of concerts in Japan, within the shortest period of time since debut for a foreign artist.
iKON drew big attention when they took No.1 on Oricon daily albums chart on the day their debut album “WELCOME BACK” was released in Japan on January 13. Then, iKON hosted Arena tour to perform at Nippon Budokan within a month from then, on February 15. That made iKON set an unprecedented record as the foreign artist who debuted on the stage of Budokan within the shortest period of time since debut in Japan.
The concert hall was filled with the heated atmosphere of 13,000 fans from even before the beginning. iKON appeared on the stage with enthusiastic acclamation from fans. iKON fascinated the audience by presenting passionate performances of the songs included in “WELCOME BACK” album, including “RHYTHM TA”, “MY TYPE”, “AIRPLANE”, and “APOLOGY”, as well as the songs they released before debut, such as “Sinosijak” and “Wait For Me”.
iKON expressed their gratitude for their first concert at Budokan, saying, “We thank our fans for making us stand on this stage this soon. We’re really happy to have a concert at this place where we can feel the history”.
iKON kicked off their Japan arena tour on February 11 at Fukuoka International Center. Then, the tour goes on at Nippon Budokan on February 15 and 16 and then at Kobe World Memorial Hall on February 20 and 21. It continues to Makuhari Messe Event Hall on the 12 and 13 next month and Osakajyo Hall on the 15 next month, to draw total 146,000 fans to 14 concerts held in five cities.
On March 30, iKON’s new album “WELCOME BACK – COMPLETE EDITION” will be released. The album will include Japanese versions of “DUMB&DUMBER”, “WHAT’S WRONG?” “I MISS YOU SO BAD”, and “RHYTHM TA”(ROCK VER.). Plus, a remix version of “ANTHEM” in original Japanese version will also be included in the album.
iKON successfully rounded off their second concert “iKONCERT 2016 SHOWTIME TOUR” on the 30 and 31 last month at Olympic Gymnastics Arena in Seoul. iKON will hold concert again in Daegu on February 27 and in Busan on March 5, to meet fans who could not come to the Seoul concert.
