After their Debut Stage, BLACKPINK said, “Our minds went blank when we went up on the stage. We’ll try to show many different sides of us.”
[마이데일리=전원 기자] YG Entertainment’s new girl group BLACKPINK did their first performance on SBS’s Inkigayo. BLACKPINK took their first step as a girl group by putting on a flawless performance and demonstrated that they deserve to be called a “monster rookie.”
On August 14, BLACKPINK did their first stage on SBS’s Inkigayo.
YG Entertainment announced that BLACKPINK members said after doing their stage, “Our minds went blank when we went up on the stage. But, many people cheered for us, and so we were able to do well. Looking back, we feel that we could have done better. We’ll work harder so that fans can see us improving and our different appeals”.
A singer only debuts once, so it was only natural that the scale of BLACKPINK’s debut stage was phenomenal. The set for “WHISTLE” had a LED screen that went around the stage, and in the center there was an architectural piece. The “BOOMBAYAH” set had an installation that showed the faces of the members. Both sets were spectacular considering that they were for a music show.
BLACKPINK members sang and danced to their songs without making a single mistake, and it was hard to believe that they were mere rookies. For the “BOOMBAYAH” stage, BLACKPINK did the exact dance moves as in the music video, proving that they can sing and dance live and are indeed the “whole package”.
The numbers show that BLACKPINK is indeed a mega rookie. In just 100 hours after its release, the “BOOMBAYAH” music video surpassed 10 million views, and later in the day, “WHISTLE” music video also surpassed the 10 million mark. Combined, the two music videos posted more than 20 million views, reflecting the group’s global popularity. “WHISTLE” is also no.1 on the charts of Korea’s eight major music streaming websites.
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK is YG’s first new girl group in seven years. The group consists of JISOO, JENNIE, ROSÉ, and LISA, who have been trainees at YG for as long as six years. On August 8, BLACKPINK released their debut single album “SQUARE ONE”, and the title tracks of the album, “WHISTLE” and “BOOMBAYAH”, are currently sweeping the charts.
