[Exclusive] “K-Pop Star 2”s Bang Yedam debuts in YG’s youngest boy group
[OSEN=박소영 기자] YG Entertainment is launching a new boy group that will follow the footsteps of BIGBANG, WINNER, and iKON. Bang Yedam, the runner-up of SBS “K-Pop Star Season 2” show, will be included in the boy group.
On February 13, OSEN obtained information that YG Entertainment is now working on the debut of a new boy group with members aged between 15 and 17. It will be the youngest-ever boy group of YG Entertainment and they aim to make an official debut by this July.
Bang Yedam, who took the second place in “K-Pop Star Season 2” in 2013 whose winner was AKMU, has got the opportunity to debut in YG’s new boy group, after years of training since then. He has been concentrating on the training and practice perfectly behind the scenes so far and now he is about to debut as the main vocalist of YG’s new boy group.
An insider who knows well about YG explained, “YG’s new boy group is a bold attempt as its members are aged between 15 and 17, much younger than the members of BIGBANG, WINNER, and iKON who were in their early 20’s when they made debut. Even though the members of the new boy group are very young, they have been trained for more than four to five years and they have also passed the strict evaluation process of YG’s head producer YANG HYUN SUK. So, the new boy group can be deemed as a veteran artist whose talent has already been verified”.
In a photo that OSEN obtained from an insider who was involved in the production of the new boy group’s music video, Bang Yedam who has grown into a good-looking middle-school boy is displayed He has grown much taller, with his height now reaching almost 170cm. He also carries YG’s flagship trendy feel and attitude. He has grown up very well as everyone expected.
Bang Yedam was 12-years-old when he competed in “K-Pop Star Season 2”. Even though he was so young, Bang captivated the viewers of the show by singing Justin Bieber’s “Baby”, Stevie Wonder’s “Sir Duke”, Culture Club’s “Karma Chameleon”, and Michael Jackson’s “Black or White” with his flagship tender and beautiful voice, along with outstanding dance.
All the three judges from SM, YG, ad JYP were fascinated by Bang Yedam’s talents and viewers of “K-Pop Star” show also enthusiastically supported him. After Bang took the second place in the show, he signed an exclusive contract with YG Entertainment. After years of professional training, Bang Yedam has evolved into the “jewel of YG” from a rough gemstone.
It is expected that the new “jewel of YG” will be unveiled in this coming summer. YG Entertainment will focus on the comeback of iKON, WINNER, BLACKPINK, and SECHSKIES from April to June and the new boy group in which Bang Yedam is included is likely to debut in the second half of 2017.
YG Entertainment will be so busy for 2017 as it has always been.
