[일간스포츠=이미현 기자] WINNER, YG’s boy group restructured to have four members, will come back in this April after one year and two months of absence from the music scene.
According to YG insiders on March 14, WINNER will come back in this April, after long-time absence from the music scene. WINNER is making comeback one year and two months after mini-album “EXIT:E” released in February last year. Speculations about WINNER’s comeback have already emerged as YG Entertainment began to discuss the date of WINNER’s comeback TV performance with broadcasting stations.
Fans have been guessing that WINNER will come back soon, as photos taken at the music video shooting which was carried out in the United States spread on social media platforms. Regarding such speculations, a high-ranking official of YG Entertainment acknowledged WINNER’s comeback by saying, “It is true that we’re discussing the date of WINNER’s first TV performance after their comeback in the first week of April, but the exact date of the release of WINNER’s new album has not been confirmed yet. It could be the first of the next months or even earlier than that”.
WINNER released a mini-album in February last year, but did not release follow-up albums and soon stopped their performances in and out of the country because of ex-member NAM TAEHYUN’s health issue. The team went through an unexpected trouble and crisis when NAM TAEHYUN left the team at the end of last year.
At that time, YG expressed their official position and still-firm support for WINNER, saying, “Even though NAM TAEHYUN has left the team, WINNER will continue with their artistic career as a group of four members”. WINNER restructured into a team of four members have been working on their new songs and practiced dance from the end of last year.
In the meantime, SONG MINHO has been boasting his wit and sense of humor by appearing in tvN’s “New Journey to the West” show and KANG SEUNGYOON also appeared in SBS “꽃놀이패” show as a regular cast members, to satisfy fans’ thirst for WINNER from time to time.
