“From Lee Byung-hun to GD”… 17 months of waiting will be fully paid back
[헤럴드POP=이호연 기자] Singer PSY is coming back with full support from his colleague artists.
PSY releases his 8th full album “4X2=8” on May 10 at 6PM. Even though only the track list of the new album has been released instead of teaser posters, PSY’s new album has been drawing keen attention, thanks to full support from YG and his colleague artists. Actor Lee Byung-hun ad girl group Apink’s Son Na-eun played the title role in the music video of the double title tracks of PSY’s new album. Plus, YG Family, JYP Jin-young Park, and Block B’ ZICO worked as the producers and featuring artists for PSY’s new album.
The double title tracks of PSY’s new album are “I LUV IT” and “New Face”. “I LUV IT” is drawing keen attention, as actor Lee Byung-hun acted in its music video. Block B’s ZICO took part in the song as the producer, so “I LUV IT” is expected to boast a bigger synergy. “New Face”, one of the double title tracks of PSY’s new album that is coincidentally released a day after Korea’s presidential election, is supported by Son Na-eun who played the title role in the music video. The song carries a message that all the people want a new face.
B.I of YG’s boy group iKON took part in writing the melody and lyrics of “LAST SCENE”. The song will present a harmony between PSY’s vocal and the voice of actress LEE SUNG KYOUNG who featured for it. B.I also contributed to track No.5 “BOMB” along with BOBBY. “BOMB” is a song of Jin-young Park and it was once rejected by Yoo Jae-suk in MBC “The Infinite Challenge” show. The song was newly born by PSY and iKON.
YG Family also spared no support for PSY’s comeback. BIGBANG’s TAEYANG featured for “LOVE”. G-DRAGON, another member of BIGBANG, featured for track No.7, “FACT”. The two YG colleagues fully exerted their own talents in different new songs of PSY, to boast a perfect synergy with PSY’s flagship wit and energy. Music fans are expressing great anticipation for the combination between PSY and BIGBANG, the two leading artists of YG.
In addition, KUSH is included in the credits of two songs: “We are young” and “REFUGE”. TABLO and B.I took part in writing the lyrics of “AUTO REVERSE” and also featured for it.
Even YANG HYUN SUK, the head of YG Entertainment, participated in producing of PSY’s new album, to further raise its quality. Recently, PSY posted a photo of the back of working YANG HYUN SUK on his social media account, saying, “Mr. YANG working really hard. My bro in the Hongdae area. The best sound engineer. Million dollar ears”. YANG HYUN SUK took extra care of PSY’s new album, voluntarily working as the engineer for it. The synergy between the two is also drawing keen attention.
PSY is coming back with a new album after 17 months of absence from the music scene since “Chiljip PSY-da” released in December, 2015. The reason why PSY’s success is expected this time too is clear. PSY is coming to dominate a variety of music charts, with the full support from top artists from in and out of YG. That is why music fans are expressing great anticipation for PSY’s domination of charts. Is PSY going to create another sensation that will follow the footsteps of “Gangnam Style”?
