[EXCLUSIVE] “YG’s Brother and Sister Set to Go”, iKON·BLACKPINK Will Make Comeback Next Year on January
[OSEN=김은애 기자] YG’s brother and sister groups will heat the K-Pop scene starting from January next year. iKON and BLACKPINK are finally making their comeback.
According to OSEN’s coverage on December 9, BLACKPINK is currently working on a new album with a goal to release it on January 2018. Also, a foreign choreography team stated that the two groups are currently collaborating with staff in and out of Korea, preparing for their comeback.
YG’s YANG HYUN SUK posted iKON’s music video filming scene through his social media on December 9, raising expectations on the comeback. It is confirmed that iKON will make return on January 2018.
Members of iKON have been working on their comeback, paying attention to details on music, choreography, and music video for a long time. iKON is known to be practicing their choreography for the new song day and night.
It will be a comeback in 8 months, since iKON released ‘BLING BLING’ on May 22. They have achieved noticeable results even during break, dominating the no.1 spots on Japanese music charts. They also gained popularity through their expression of various charms on JTBC’s variety show, ‘iKON PICNIC’. With the last episode airing scheduled, iKON is expected to concentrate even more on their comeback.
For BLACKPINK, it will be their comeback in Korea in 7 months, since they released ‘As IF IT’s YOUR LAST’ on June 22. They have dominated music charts in Korea as soon as they made debut last year, becoming a top-class girl group.
Furthermore, BLACKPINK has 4 music videos with over 100 million views (‘WHISTLE’, ‘BOOMBAYAH’, ‘PLAYING WITH FIRE’, and ‘AS IF IT’S YOUR LAST), which is evidence of marking their presence to the public at an extremely-high speed. For these reasons, fans have eagerly waited for BLACKPINK’s comeback.
Once again, as BLACKPINK will make their comeback following iKON on January 2018, they are expected to secure their position in the K-Pop scene firmly. They are practicing hard while preparing for their new album. The group will be also revealing their first exclusive reality program, ‘BLACKPINK HOUSE’, which will display the members’ luminosity.

T’s mature music are receiving love from many people, along with favorable reviews from critics. EPIK HIGH took the no. 1 spot, even on a music broadcast in their comeback in 3 years, while ZION. T dominated the music charts with his special collaboration with LEE MUNSE.
