YG PLUS Gears Up for Joint Music Business with Naver…” Exclusive Music Releases Through the AI-Based Music Service”
[마이데일리=김나라 기자] YG Entertainment’s subsidiary company YG PLUS is gearing up for the new joint music business with Naver. They are strengthening the competitiveness of the AI-based music service, ‘VIBE.
On June 25, YG PLUS (Representative YANG MIN SUK) announced that they will “start competitiveness reinforcement on ‘VIBE’, which is Naver’s new AI-based music service (abbreviated as VIBE)”.
Based on their capabilities in the entertainment industry, YG PLUS will ▲Supply music including exclusive contents ▲Operate services ▲ Develop the payment platform, and will cooperate with Naver in various fields.
Since VIBE creates ‘specialized playlists’ based on one’s personal music taste using AI-based recommendation skills, it is important for the service to secure a sufficient supply of various music sources.
To solve this issue, YG PLUS secured approximately 40 million songs, which is the largest amount in Korean music services, through their supply contract with foreign contents distributors including Routenote and Orchard. They will also secure further competitive music and exclusive contents through the ‘YG-Naver Contents & Lifestyle Fund’ constructed with Naver, starting from the end of 2018.
Related officials from YG PLUS stated, “We will spur our investment from the end of this year through the ‘YG-Naver Fund’”. They continued, “We will construct metadata for each song and combine the data with Naver’s deep-learning technology, which will analyze the song’s characteristics and distinctions. This will help us create a global music platform that is able to compete with platforms such as Apple Music and Spotify”.
YG PLUS previously signed a business agreement with Naver last year on October, to start a joint music business. They added, “We will continue to cooperate with Naver in various fields for the competitiveness reinforcement of VIBE”.
