iKON’s long-run popularity is still ongoing. iKON’s ‘LOVE SCENARIO’ released back in January 25, is still maintaining its position in the top 50 in various music charts, although it has been over 6 months since the song was released. The song successfully grabbed both the public and the fandom’s ears.
From January 25 to March 8, ‘LOVE SCENARIO’ maintained its top position in Melon chart for 43 days. Their long vacancy and relative slump that came from ‘BLING BLING’ and ‘B-DAY’ made people worry about the group’s success. However, iKON successfully made a perfect comeback.
The results of their long-run 43 days of no. 1 on music charts were fantastic. The group re-wrote K-Pop history in 10 years by surpassing the previous long-run no. 1 record held by BIGBANG, with their song ‘HARU HARU’. The group set a milestone by winning 11 crowns on music broadcasts, while the MV became iKON’s first video to surpass 100 million views. B.I and other producers from YG created the catchiest melody, which helped the group’s success and long-run popularity. Even parodies of the song were performed in variety programs, which is an indicator of a ‘mega-hit’ and massive love from the public.
At this rate, it’s not hard to guess iKON’s future achievements on year-end award ceremonies. It may be too soon to forejudge year-end results on July, but one cannot ignore the number of streams, downloads, rank in charts, and the song’s long-run performance on music charts.
As iKON cut a great start for 2018, other artists from YG Entertainment are also performing well on music charts. BIGBANG’s ‘FLOWER ROAD’, WINNER’s ‘EVERYDAY’, and BLACKPINK’s ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ were placed at no. 1 as the public’s pick.
