JENNIE Reveals MV Making of ‘SOLO’, “An Alter Ego Unseen from BLACKPINK”
[OSEN=지민경 기자] JENNIE revealed the MV filming scenes and points to look after through the MV making video of ‘SOLO’.
Today(13th) at 10 AM, YG Entertainment revealed the MV making video of JENNIE’s first solo track ‘SOLO’ through their official blog(www.yg-life.com). The making video presented the filming scenes of the MV along with points to look after, introduced by JENNIE.
JENNIE’s MV for ‘SOLO’ was filmed in the UK and was directed by Han Samin who previously worked on BIGBANG’s ‘BLUE’, G-DRAGON’s ‘Untitled’, and BLACKPINK’s ‘STAY’, gathering the fans’ attention. The MV making video revealed JENNIE sincerely acting her progress of maturing after a breakup, with a local mansion, laundry, streets, parking lot, and party place as backgrounds.
In the revealed making video, JENNIE stated, “The video shows how a woman gets heart-wounded by a man but overcomes little by little, and then becomes ok”. She added, “There are many dramatic elements within the MV. I’ve talked a lot with the director and prepared a lot so that I can focus on the character. I took a lot of care whether the character and emotions are well portrayed”.
JENNIE who actively participated in preparing for her solo debut stated, “I will present my alter ego that was not revealed through BLACKPINK, so I would be happy if you just watch”.
JENNIE’s first solo song ‘SOLO’ was written by TEDDY, who worked on all songs released by BLACKPINK ever since debut. The song was also composed by TEDDY and 24. ‘SOLO’ is a Hip-Hop track incorporating elements of Pop music which has direct and sincere lyrics on top of the beautiful chords and simple melody line on the intro that captures the listeners’ ears in an instant. The people will be able to see two sides of JENNIE, coexisting within her inner and outer self as a delicate young girl and as a strong independent woman.
JENNIE’s performance for ‘SOLO’ was revealed through BLACKPINK’s first-ever solo concert in Seoul held on the 10th and 11th and received the fans’ passionate support. The song was released yesterday(12th) at 6 PM and achieved an all-kill on 8 different music charts including Melon. Furthermore, the song topped iTunes charts in 40 different countries, proving her popularity in and out of Korea.
The MV for ‘SOLO’ released yesterday(12th) also reached 10 million views on YouTube, as of today at 9 AM. People are wondering how high JENNIE’s ‘SOLO’ will rise, as she is presenting dominant presence even as a solo artist.
