Real Competition in ‘YG TREASURE BOX’ Starts Now! 10 Million Views in 2 Episodes

PARK JEONG WOO of group C was placed at 2nd while BANG YE DAM, the vocal genius, was placed at no. 4, shocking the viewers. The no. 1 spot and group A position did not promise anything. It was the ‘real competition style’ of YG Entertainment.
The second episode of ‘YG TREASURE BOX’, known as the “unpretentious survival program”, aired through Naver VLIVE on the 23rd at 10 PM. The episode presented performances by group J composed of 7 trainees from YG JAPAN recommended by YANG HYUN SUK and the individual evaluations of all 29 treasures.
The reactions heated up even more as the real competition began. According to Naver VLIVE, the program reached 1 million views as of the 24th at 9 AM, reaching its own highest record. The total accumulated views surpassed 10 million views in 2 episodes.
Group J received praises from representative producer YANG HYUN SUK with their performance and teamwork. After group J performed, YANG HYUN SUK told the other trainees to work harder by stating, “Team Korea lost. The Japanese trainees were no. 1, unrivaled”. The competition got fiercer in the following individual evaluations.
With the recommendation of trainees from each group, KIM JUN KYU from group A, JANG YUN SEO of group B, LEE IN HONG of group C, and HARUTO from group J battled each other as the visual representatives. HARUTO grabbed the people’s attention by revealing his unique charms. He met BIGBANG’s SEUNGRI in Japan, prior to the show. SEUNGRI told HARUTO, “I also thought, ‘why am I the only one getting scolded’ when I was young. But that was all out of affection. Don’t lose your confidence just because you got scolded”, as a sincere advice coming from his experience.
HARUTO received positive reviews with his unique low-tone rap, while KIM JUN KYU presented his charming vocals despite losing his confidence through monthly evaluations due to YANG HYUN SUK’s unsatisfactory evaluations. The trainees ended with a draw. KIM DO YOUNG from group A and KOTARO from group J battled each other on the following dance battle, but KIM DO YOUNG had the upper hand with his trendy dance skills.
The third battle was between JUNG JUN HYUK of group C and CHOI HYUN SUK of group A. Representative producer YANG HYUN SUK told CHOI HYUN SUK, “There’s too much MSG. The motion exceeds your rap. You need to be more delicate”. On the other hand, JUNG JUN HYUK surprised everyone with his powerful rap, performed in front of CHOI HYUN SUK. CHOI HYUN SUK could not hide his surprise at JUNG JUN HYUK’s ruthless rap that made people forget about his age.
The last battle was between BANG YE DAM, the vocal genius, and PARK JEONG WOO. BANG YE DAM presented a stylish performance with a song written by himself, while PARK JEONG WOO reinterpreted Adele’s song blandly with soul. After the two trainees performed, representative YANG HYUN SUK was astonished and asked, “Where are you from?” towards JEONG WOO. He continued, “JEONG WOO is only 15 but he hits the right notes, his vocals are powerful, and full of emotions”. Meanwhile, he told BANG YE DAM, “The song was not that trendy, and I rather felt, why did he become so regular”, noticing an upcoming change in the upper ranks.
The shocking results of the first monthly evaluations followed with ranks. JUNG JUN HYUK from group C was placed at no. 1 with his confident rap performance. PARK JEONG WOO who battled BANG YE DAM was placed at no. 2, which was an unexpected result. CHOI HYUN SUK who battled JUNG JUN HYUK was placed at no. 11 while BANG YE DAM was placed at no. 4. KIM DO YOUNG of group A was placed at no. 13, LEE BYOUNG GON at no. 17, and KIM SEUNG HUN was placed at no. 19, shocking the viewers.
The VLIVE real-time comment section was also heated after the release of the second episode of ‘YG TREASURE BOX’. ‘YG TREASURE BOX’ is a survival program to select members for YG’s new boy group of 2019 through YG’s differentiated production process from trainee casting, training, monthly evaluations, and its making. The program will be composed of 10 episodes, and air through VLIVE and Naver TV.
