‘YG TREASURE BOX’, PARK JEONG WOO·JUNG JUN HYUK, ‘Unexpected Winners’ That Beat BANG YE DAM
[OSEN=장진리 기자] JUNG JUN HYUK and PARK JEONG WOO of group C were placed at no. 1 and no. 2 respectively in the monthly evaluations, marking an unexpected outcome.
The second episode of ‘YG TREASURE BOX’ aired through Naver VLIVE on the 23rd revealed the individual evaluations on the 29 treasures.
The individual evaluations by position have finally started. Group A with a lot of broadcasting experience and fandom were expected to do best, as some people even call them the ‘pre-debut team’. From BANG YE DAM, known as the singer-songwriter that will represent YG, and CHOI HYUN SUK who proved his talent through ‘MIXNINE’, the treasures of group A were strong.
However, the results were different from what people expected. JUNG JUN HYUK, the boy rapper, was placed at no. 1. JUNG JUN HYUK wanted to reveal his self-written rap that stated, “I’m the best”. YG’s representative producer YANG HYUN SUK offered an additional mission to have him rap in front of CHOI HYUN SUK. JUNG JUN HYUK rapped in front of CHOI HYUN SUK leisurely with outstanding skills.
The treasures were surprised at JUNG JUN HYUK’s performance. Not only HARUTO of group J, but also group A were amused at JUNG JUN HYUK’s skills. Producer YANG HYUN SUK stated, “JUN HYUK’s a good rapper as all of you know”, while telling CHOI HYUN SUK, “He teased you while rapping as I expected. It will be a good stimulus. There’s no age in learning. If he’s good, you should learn from him regardless of age”.
PARK JEONG WOO, the vocalist from group C was placed at second. PARK JEONG WOO battled BANG YE DAM, the ‘vocal genius’. BANG YE DAM presented a stylish performance with a high degree of completion with his self-written track, ‘BLACK SWAN’. The trainees praised him by stating, “He looked nervous, but he was really good”. PARK JEONG WOO performed Adele’s ‘When We Were Young’, reinterpreting the song blandly with soul. Producer YANG HYUN SUK was surprised at his deep emotions expressed through his vocals despite his young age and asked, “Where are you from?”.
JUNG JUN HUK and PARK JEONG WOO were placed at no. 1 and no. 2 after receiving praises. It was an unexpected domination by group C. The performances of the two trainees were amazing enough to admit that they beat BANG YE DAM and CHOI HYUN SUK from group A who were more experienced and well-known. JUNG JUN HYUK dominated the practice room with his rap and unique swag, while PARK JEONG WOO perfectly reinterpreted Adele’s song with his own emotions and vocals. Even BANG YE DAM and CHOI HYUN SUK had to admit it.
The unexpected journey of JUNG JUN HYUK and PARK JEONG WOO starts now. Producer YANG HYUN SUK warned, “They could be zero people from group A that makes it to the debut group. You have to be prepared”. How will the two trainees that emerged as ‘dark horses’ influence the composition of the debut group selected by the treasure makers.
