‘YG TREASURE BOX’, 610 Thousand Live Viewers-90 Million Views… What’s More Important is ‘The Meaning of its Numbers’

The live viewers for the first episode of ‘YG TREASURE BOX’, the program to select members for YG’s next generation boy group, started with 150 thousand live viewers. The number of live viewers increased as the show progressed, while the 9th episode surpassed 610 thousand viewers, which is 4 times more than the number which the first episode reached.
The reason why this record is astonishing is because ‘YG TREASURE BOX’ is achieving popularity and success through its differentiated broadcast method, as a program aiming for the global market.
The fact that the number of live viewers on VLIVE surpassed 610 thousand itself is astonishing, but it is even more amazing considering that the ‘YG TREASURE BOX’ is revealed through various platforms including YouTube and JTBC 2 hours after the VLIVE broadcast.
The program was planned as a multi-content that utilizes many different platforms, rather than as a regular program airing through broadcast stations. ‘YG TREASURE BOX’ was ranked at no. 1 on VLIVE’s daily broadcast chart on the 11th. The show was ranked at no. 1 not only in Korea, but also in daily charts of Japan, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore, continuing its global popularity.
The interest on the show is steadily increasing as the final stage is approaching. The number of view counts of ‘YG TREASURE BOX’ has reached almost 90 million views in 9 episodes. The show was also ranked at no. 2 on the non-drama popularity index for the first week of January 2019 announced by Good Data Corporation, the TV popularity analysis agency. The index was a meaningful record which came out as a result of analyzing 185 non-drama programs, aired from December 31 to January 6.
On the broadcast aired on the 11th, 11 trainees who will advance to the finals have been decided. YG’s representative producer revealed, “A total of 9 trainees out of 20 will drop out from the show”, and the trainees were stirred up in the waiting room. The final competition to determine the final 7 winners out of the 11 trainees will air through the show next week.
The final episode of ‘YG TREASURE BOX’ which will determine members of YG’s next generation boy group will pre-release on the 13th at 10 PM through VLIVE and broadcast through JTBC2 and YouTube on the same night at 12 AM.
