BLACKPINK to Appear on ‘Inkigayo’… Will Soon Head to the US

[일간스포츠=김연지 기자] BLACKPINK will start their promotional activities in the US after their appearance on ‘Inkigayo’.
On SBS ‘Inkigayo’ airing on the 7th, BLACKPINK will present charismatic performances of their title song ‘KILL THIS LOVE’ and their sub-title song ‘Don’t Know What To Do’ from their new EP album.
BLACKPINK who performed ‘KILL THIS LOVE’ and ‘Don’t Know What To Do’ through MBC ‘Show! Music Core’ on the 6th presented restrained yet strong female-soldier like choreography along with their choreography composition which maximized the group’s feminine charms, grabbing their fans’ attention in an instant.
Afterwards, BLACKPINK will head to the US and meet the local music fans by performing at ‘Coachella Festival’, the biggest music festival of the US, on April 12 and 19. It is said that the founder of Coachella, Paul Tollett, visited Korea himself to invite BLACKPINK before he announced the lineup for this year.
BLACKPINK will stand proudly among global musicians such as Ariana Grande, The 1975, Diplo, Khalid, and Zedd as the first K-Pop idol to perform at Coachella.
Coachella has continued its fame as a music festival held in Indio, California every Spring which covers various genres of music including Rock, Hip-hop, and Electronic. Approximately 200 teams perform in a space which is 92 times larger than Jamsil Stadium in Seoul for 2 weeks(weekends), while almost 250 thousand music fans participate. Well-known musicians such as BEYONCE, Drake, Eminem, and Radiohead have also performed at Coachella Festival.
On the 17th, BLACKPINK will begin their North America tour consisted of 8 concerts in 6 cities, starting in Los Angeles. It will be an opportunity for the group to meet their fans in the US in person after they notified their expansion to the US market by partnering with Interscope Records, which is the representative music label of Universal Music Group.
BLACKPINK’s ‘KILL THIS LOVE’ topped iTunes Song Charts in 37 different regions including the US, the country with the largest Pop music market. BLACKPINK is the first-ever K-Pop girl group to top the according chart and has topped the chart in 15 years as a girl group, which adds more meaning to their record.
The MV for ‘KILL THIS LOVE’ has almost reached 100 million views in 2 days and 9 hours, forecasting the birth of a new record.
