[문화일보=김인구 기자] Girl group BLACKPINK(photo) was ranked at no.33 on US Billboard’s ‘Hot 100’ Singles Chart. It is the best record set by a K-Pop girl group.
According to Billboard charts announced on the 10th, BLACKPINK and Lady Gaga’s ‘Sour Candy’ from Lady Gaga’s 6th album ‘Chromatica’ entered the ‘Hot 100’ as no.33.
BLACKPINK has previously entered the ‘Hot 100’ as no.41 through ‘Kill This Love’, released last year. BLACKPINK has also shook up charts in the UK. The song was ranked at no.17 on UK’s Official Chart Singles ‘Top 100’, proving their presence in the major Pop market.
The song is a collaboration between BLACKPINK and Lady Gaga, but includes Korean lyrics while the results were achieved through audio only, without a music video. About half the portion of the 2 minutes and 38 seconds of vocals in the song were sung by BLACKPINK. Furthermore, the song includes Korean lyrics which state, “You’ll be surprised by the unexpected look / You’re the one who covered me up with pretending to be rich~ You stay away from confident eyes / Open it up and you scream as usual”. Also, the song does not have a music video. As a result, there ate many ‘fan-made’ videos uploaded on YouTube.
BLACKPINK will make comeback with their pre-release title song on the 26th. They are planning to release their first-ever mini album in September.
