BLACKPINK, 42.3M YouTube Subscribers… No. 1 Among All Female Artists in the World
[파이낸셜뉴스=신진아 기자] Girl group BLACKPINK surpassed Pop star Ariana Grande in number of YouTube channel subscribers, becoming the no. 1 female artist in the world with subscriber numbers. Considering that YouTube is the main platform that changed the global music industry, BLACKPINK’s no. 1 in number of subscribers holds a lot of meaning.
According to YG Entertainment on July 24, BLACKPINK’s official YouTube channel surpassed 42.3M subscribers today at 8 AM. The figure is higher than Pop stars including Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, and Rihanna. Even considering all male and female artists, BLACKPINK is top 5 along with Justin Bieber, DJ Marshmello, Ed Sheeran, and Eminem.
YouTube channel subscriber numbers show an artist’s popularity and recognition objectively. In the era of daily new contents, consistent support from loyal fandom and anticipation on future contents usually lead to ‘subscription’.
BLACKPINK has hit the global charts with ‘How You Like That’, released last month on the 26th, following their previous release ‘Kill This Love’. The number of BLACKPINK’s YouTube channel subscribers which used to be approximately 37.4M, prior to the release of ‘How You Like That’, increased by 5M for the past month.
