TREASURE to Make Debut Toda(7th), ‘YG’s TREASURE BOX Finally Opens’… ‘YG’s First·Biggest·Best’ Even Before Making Debut
[헤럴드POP=박서연 기자] YG’s major rookie group TREASURE finally makes debut today. The people are paying keen attention on how the first step of the 12 members, who became real treasure after times of polishing, will shake the entire world.
On August 7 at 6 PM, TREASURE will release ‘THE FIRST STEP : CHAPTER ONE’ and the MV for its title song, ‘BOY’. YG Entertainment uploaded TREASURE’s ‘D-DAY’ poster, V LIVE counter, and album counter to raise the global music fans’ anticipation to its max.
TREASURE is YG’s rookie group being announced in 4 years since BLACKPINK and is the fourth boy group following BIGBANG·WINNER·iKON. Their presence is expected to be strong since they not only have a high level of musicality but also since YG, the agency that raised the status of K-Pop in the world, has put in a lot of effort.
TREASURE is distinct from existing boy groups of YG. Unlike BIGBANG·WINNER·iKON who released lyrical songs in medium tempo with basis on Hip-hop music, they are strong from the beginning.
YG explained, “TREASURE’s debut title song ‘BOY’ has a strong beat which carries the listeners’ body to the music along with a catchy dance break drop”. The partial melody of ‘BOY’ teased through the MV teaser clip raised the listeners’ hearts beat with its synthesizer sounds, strong bass, and drums harmonized to raise the tension of the song.
Meanwhile, the lyrics contain the emotions of a boy. It contrasts with the dynamically transforming track and states a boy’s pure yet passionate love of rushing forward due to an emotional attraction he feels for the first time of his life.
It’s an explosion of a so called ‘Teen crush’. It is reviewed to contain both the passionate and fresh charms of a teenager. The performance of ‘BOY’ will present a group ‘dance move’ which the synergy effect of all 12 members stand out.
The variety of charms by members are also TREASURE’s big charms. TREASURE, the group with an average age of 19, has created a perfect balance of 12 members based on their great looks and musical capabilities. The fact that 4 of these members are from Japan raises their competitiveness in the second biggest music market in the world.
As if they were proving the aforementioned facts, TREASURE became the fastest K-Pop rookie group to enter Billboard’s ‘Social 50’ chart and has successfully charted in for 6 consecutive weeks. They were also listed on Billboard’s ‘Emerging Artists’ chart for 2 consecutive weeks although they are yet to make debut. Furthermore, the physical copies of their album which became available for pre-order last month on the 29th has surpassed a total of 170 thousand pre-orders, setting the biggest rookie pre-order record in YG history.
TREASURE was formed through the survival program, ‘YG TREASURE BOX’, aired from November 2018 until January 2019. As one can see from the fandom name, ‘TREASURE Maker’, the appearance of the group has a lot to do with the fans who have always supported TREASURE.
TREASURE has been closely connecting with the fans before making debut. They released self-produced contents on YouTube including ‘TREASURE Map’, ‘TMI’, ‘A 3 Minute TREASURE’, and more to reveal their friendly and joyous charms. As a result, TREASURE’s official YouTube channel has over 1.38M subscribers and a total of 100M accumulated views.
Meanwhile, TREASURE will say hi to the fans today at 4 PM, 2 hours prior to the release of their album, through their debut countdown V LIVE broadcast. They will have their first-ever music broadcast performance on the 9th on SBS ‘Inkigayo’. The physical copies of ‘THE FIRST STEP : CHAPTER ONE’ will become available on the 13th through YG SELECT and nationwide retailers online and offline.
