The Records BLACKPINK Will Write with Their Official Debut Album Released in 4 Years… Their Growth Continues
[엑스포츠뉴스=박소연 기자] The people are looking forward to the records to be written by BLACKPINK, the ‘K-Pop Queens’.
On October 2 at 2 PM, an online media conference was held to celebrate the release of BLACKPINK’s official debut album, ‘THE ALBUM’.
The title song ‘Lovesick Girls’ ask why people get hurt and wounded by love, and yet they go after another love. Members JISOO and JENNIE participated in the composing and writing of the song.
In addition, the album contains a total of 8 tracks including ‘How You Like That’, ‘Ice Cream’, ‘Pretty Savage’, ‘Bet You Wanna’, ‘Crazy Over You’, ‘Love To Hate Me’, and ‘You Never Know’.
After its release at 1 PM, the album topped various music platforms, while its MV reached 10M views in 1 hour, proving BLACKPINK’s heated popularity.
BLACKPINK has previously renewed not only their own best records but also set the best records in K-Pop girl group history on various global charts including US Billboard and UK’s Official Charts through songs ‘Sour Candy’, ‘How You Like That’, and ‘Ice Cream’.
JISOO revealed, “I felt that a lot of people have waited for us since we’ve made comeback in quite a while” and added, “We thought we should present our best selves while preparing for our album, since it’s our official debut album”.
JENNIE stated, “We wanted to show our growth” and explained, “The lyrics and the mood of the song show a confident and cool feeling”. She added, “Since it’s our official debut album, I tried to put in as many words as I can that people would remind themselves of when they think of BLACKPINK”.
ROSÉ continued, “We’ve release albums in various formats, but it was meaningful since it’s our first official album. We were all happy when the decision was made and were excited, thinking about the kind of tracks we should fill the album with”.
JISOO and JENNIE also participated in the writing and composing of the song. On the question asking where she puts her focus in while working on music, JENNIE replied, “I get inspired from my surroundings and my daily life. In the case of TEDDY, he goes to the studio when he doesn’t have work and talks about life, collects opinions on topics which we can share a new message, which allows him to make music that sounds like BLACKPINK. All of our members have the urge for something new, so we try to inspire each other and move forward without tiring ourselves out”.
What has changed since debut. JISOO answered, “We had fun moving forward together and cheering ourselves up when we were trainees, but now we move forward to satisfy more people and make them feel empathy. That is the different part”.
However, she added, “But all four of us have always wanted the same thing, and we move on with the same heart. The situations have changed, but our hearts have stayed the same”.
JENNIE stated, “Rather than what’s different, it’s fun and grateful that we can watch each other grow from being teenagers to turning in our 20s. We may have different growth processes and patterns, but it’s amazing and I’m proud that we become united when we talk about our performances and music. I would like to tell everyone that we did so well. I hope to be able to enjoy our upcoming journey and be cooler”.
BLACKPINK’s original documentary will premiere through Netflix on the 14th. What would they like to tell their fans. ROSÉ explained, “It shows our trainee days to our busy schedules after we became busy after debut. It was an opportunity for us to recall the steps we took. We had fun while shooting since we wanted the fans to watch us, and the moments had a lot of meaning for us as well”.
ROSÉ also added, “I’m always grateful that we can achieve many things with music. We are happy that our listeners do not simply listen but feel empathy and enjoy our music by watching us and following us in various formats”. She also shared her gratitude towards her fans by stating, “It’s still amazing when we see news regarding our new records, and I feel grateful. I’m grateful that many people pay attention to BLACKPINK as a girl group, and as individual members”.
On the question asking the goal they would like to achieve with their debut album, JISOO revealed, “As many people have waited for our album for a long time, I think our messages will influence them a lot. We sing what we have felt and try to express them, so we would like to become artists that can make the listeners feel what we feel”.
