TREASURE’s Character ‘TRUZ’ Decorates Times Square New York… Captures Global Fans’ Hearts
[OSEN=김은애 기자] IP TRUZ, the character created by YG’s rookie group TREASURE, decorated the center metropolis of New York city.
According to YG Entertainment on February 25, TRUZ, the character created under the collaboration between TREASURE and global creative studio Line Friends, will be advertised through the New York Line Store located in Times Square for approximately a month, until March 21.
TREASURE has been running TREASURE STUDIO along with Line Friends. It was a project to develop character IP, which contains the unique characteristics of TREASURE. The members of TREASURE communicated with their global fans throughout the creative process to come up with their looks, characters, and stories, which received favorable reviews.
On the 17th, the Line Friends official YouTube channel uploaded a video rewarding TREASURE and their fans who have worked hard for the birth of TRUZ. TREASURE successfully cleared all mission games to advertise the TRUZ video through the Line Friends Store in Times Square, New York. The video advertising TRUZ showed all 12 characters, who have been created by the members of TREASURE themselves.
TREASURE revealed 16 different TRUZ stickers through Line messenger in 7 different countries including Korea and Japan, as well as launching an Instagram AR camera filter, capturing the hearts of the MZ generation. Since they have now appeared in Times Square New York, it is expected that the characters will receive global attention.
Meanwhile, TREASURE has recently proved their global popularity by being selected as ‘The fastest rising K-Pop artist of 2020’, according to Twitter’s 2020 K-Pop report. TREASURE was also ranked at no. 6 on the ‘Most loved K-pop artists in the world’ list, which was the highest rank among all rookie artists.
In fact, TREASURE has achieved a milestone of surpassing over 1M in album sales with ‘THE FIRST STEP SERIES’. With their successful activities and the fans’ support, TREASURE received rookie awards at numerous major award ceremonies, and are currently scheduled to make official Japanese debut on March 31.
