TREASURE’s Pre-Release Project at No. 1 in Japan… ‘Stands Tall’ in Shibuya Streets, K-Pop’s Leading Rookies
[스타뉴스=문완식 기자] Boy group TREASURE(CHOI HYUN SUK, JIHOON, YOSHI, JUNKYU, MASHIHO, YOON JAE HYUK, ASAHI, BANG YE DAM, DOYOUNG, HARUTO, PARK JEONG WOO, SO JUNG HWAN) went no. 1 with their pre-release song with their Japanese debut ahead, raising the fans’ expectations.
According to YG Entertainment on the 10th, a large poster showing the 12 faces of TREASURE decorated the walls of Shibuya 109. They stood tall in a symbolic building located in the center of the fashion district, on the streets of youth who are keen to the latest trend. It matches their status as the major K-Pop rookie group.
The Japanese fans’ love towards TREASURE can be checked through objective statistics. 4 Japanese version tracks of ‘BOY’, ‘I LOVE YOU’, ‘MMM’, and ‘MY TREASURE’ were pre-released today and received enthusiastic reviews.
The song ‘BOY’ topped the real-time chart of Line Music, the biggest music platform in Japan, in an hour since its release. It was also ranked at no. 2 on Rakuten Music, following iKON’s ‘Why Why Why’, currently ranked at no. 1, having a good competition of faith with their seniors from the same agency.
Songs other than ‘BOY’ are also popular. ‘MY TREASURE’ was ranked at no. 4 on Line Music, while ‘I LOVE YOU’ was ranked at no. 5, and ‘MMM’ was ranked at no. 6, proving TREASURE’s strong uptrend.
After making debut last year on August, TREASURE achieved an amazing success by reaching pver 1M in album sales with ‘THE FIRST STEP’ series. 26% of the total album sales were made in Korea and Japan, respectively.
The fact that there are 4 Japanese members in TREASURE is seen as one of their biggest strengths, in addition to their musical talent. The fact that their sturdy popularity in Korea simultaneously spread out to Japan, the neighboring country with the second biggest album market, proves that their growth will be even more explosive in the future.
TREASURE will begin their full-scale promotion for their upcoming debut on March 31, including the pop-up store opening in Shibuya 109 on the 12th.
