BLACKPINK ROSÉ’s First-Ever Solo MV Hits 100M Views… Fastest Record in K-Pop Female Solo Artist History
[스타뉴스=강민경 기자] ROSÉ of girl group BLACKPINK has set the fastest record in K-Pop female solo artist history. That is, the MV for ‘On The Ground’, the title track of her first-ever solo album, has surpassed 100M views in a week.
According to YG Entertainment on the 20th, ROSÉ’s ‘On The Ground’ MV has surpassed 100M views on YouTube as of 5:55 AM. It was achieved in 7 days, 15 hours, and 55 minutes since its release on the 12th at 2 PM. It is the fastest record among MVs released by K-Pop female solo artists which surpassed 100M views. Even considering MVs released by both male and female artists, it is the second fastest right after PSY’s MV for ‘Gentleman’.
ROSÉ was expected to set milestones. ‘On The Ground’ set the best YouTube Premium MV viewing record with 1.2M simultaneous viewers at the time of its release and reached 41.6M views in 24 hours, setting the best record in K-Pop female solo artist history.
The MV for ‘On The Ground’ received favorable reviews from the fans not only through its glamorous and grand visuals, but also through ROSÉ’s emotional acting combined with the song’s lyrics singing about ‘first intent’. Global fans uploaded videos interpreting the MV, reactions, and covers, proving ROSÉ’s global popularity.
With ROSÉ’s solo MV, BLACKPINK now has a total of 27 videos with over 100M views. BLACKPINK’s official YouTube channel has hit the uptrend after the release of ROSÉ’s album release and currently has over 59M subscribers. They are the most subscribed female artist in the world, and is right behind Justin Bieber, who is the most subscribed artist in the world on YouTube.
ROSÉ’s first single album ‘R’ is also performing well on various global charts. The title track ‘On The Ground’ entered UK’s ‘Official Singles Chart Top 100’ announced on the 19th(local time) as no. 43.
She topped the iTunes Top Song charts in 51 different countries on the date of its release as well as the Worldwide Chart, and has proven her global presence once again by becoming the first-ever K-Pop female solo artist to be charted on UK’s Official Charts, which is one of the two biggest Pop charts in the world along with US Billboard.
Approximately 280 thousand copies of ROSÉ’s solo album ‘R’ were sold in a day since its release on the 16th, and the album was ranked at no. 1 on the albums category of Hanteo charts. Since the album also received over 500 thousand pre-orders, the initial sales record is expected to increase even further. It is the best album sales record set in Korean female solo artist history.
